Decision making involves getting all the facts, pros, cons, and then being able to process everything maturely to make the best decision for themselves.

Sure Mira wanted marriage and kids. Sure she made her own choices. But really how equipped was she to make those choices? I see her as a girl who was fresh out of her teens, starstruck, with idealistic notions about marriage and kids. As teens, most of us would have willingly dropped everything to marry a celebrity we adored, but grew up to have more mature notions of marriage. Some may call her gold-digger, some may see her as a willing and equal partner. I see a girl let down by her parents and her future husband through an arranged marriage that she was clearly not ready for.

Whether arranged or not, all marriages require the couple to learn and grow together. But how can you learn and grow together when one partner has lived life, been in relationships, has a successful career and defined themselves as an adult while the other one is a fresh naive adult with barely any life experience, barely any relationship experience, and really has not had an opportunity to discover who they are.

Had dreams? Why does he sound clueless about what goes in her mind 😕 don't they talk about their ambitions and aspirations?! Weird.

Big age gaps in todays times don't work out well just speakin in general here, even if the teenage girl is "mature" beyond her years, there's a life she ain't lived, the man will mentally be at another stage in his life who's lived experienced everything, the lack of mental connection is too much. I remember in high school i would see girls in my class "dating" men in their 40s not dating but you know just to call it that, it was sex. They are way easily groomed but even some girls that aren't groomed they love the forbidden fruit, the experience of sex the alphaness the intelligence an older man may have compared to a teen boy in class. This is straight facts there's always gonna be the older man younger girl thing going on. Ain't nothing wrong if their intention is just sex and nothing more, they be curious so they gon satisfy it, safe sex. But being in a whole ass relationship with an older man? That ain't it. A relationship is way more demanding and different than casual hookups.

Wow, typical left sympathy. Creating abuser-victim out of common characters. Another version can be created too. A hard working working father and a manipulative wife. What would these narratives achieve? As long as they have fine with their circumstances, there is no need of moral policing.

If 21/22 considered as a naive age, country should increase the marriage age to 30.

Why is voting age is down to 18? How can an innocent child who can't decide his/her own fate, can decide the future of the country?

If we think an 18 year old can make an informed choice while deciding fate of country, when we think 18 year old can be held responsible for the crimes he committed and sentenced, it is perfectly reasonable to accept Mira was adult enough to take those decisions.

Let's stop blaming Shahid for "her choice".

How can someone be aware of everything above and still go through with marriage is beyond me! Especially the bold.

Black bold - Marriage is a serious lifelong commitment and responsibility. You have to be ready for it. No one should be forced to grow up or miss the opportunity to enjoy their youth. Different people mature differently. Some people are ready for marriage young. But what's the rush? It's not like a 20 something has a biological clock ticking like someone pushing 40. You can wait till they are 25 which I believe is a good age people start stabilizing in life.

Usually, age shouldn't be a factor in relationships. But there are limits to when age differences.

A 10-year-old and a 23-year-old is a creepy crime. A 20-year-old and a 33-year-old is an older person taking advantage of a young person's naivety and lack of life experience. A 30-year-old and a 43-year-old has a high probability that the younger person is "settling". A 40-year-old and a 53-year-old is finally two adults making a conscious, sensible, and informed decision.

Red Bold - That just crushes me. Relationships are about uplifting each other, supporting each other to live the best possible life. I could never live with the fact that someone sacrificed their dreams and desires for me. If anyone by chance did it without my awareness, I would start making sacrifices to make up for it the second I found out.

A+ for this.

That entire article Shahid's talking about his wife not as her own person, but as a person in relation to him. She's his wife and not the mother of his children. So ridiculously creepy.

In general girls tend to mature earlier than boys..That's why traditionally wife is younger than husband. Even legal mrg age for girl is less.

Mira was an adult and made her decision..How do u know she was forced into this by her parents? Looked pretty happy and content on wedding day.

And in these times when even pre teen girls dress up act like adults u think she was a naive girl who hadn't seen life? Life is so unpredictable that even at 50 u cannot claim to have seen it all..

The couple seems happy...Let them be. No need to dissect their relationship
