I think this might be a legal thing. Alia probably passed on other movies and locked a significant time for SLB.
But things like this happen though. Did SLB not have a good contract that protected him in case something went wrong? Or is it just a norm not to worry about that and you rely on actors not to sue you? If it’s the first one then SLB is an idiot for not having an ironclad contract. If it’s the latter than Alia is taking a huge chance with her reputation by strong-arming a filmmaker into working with her. Again, crap happens and filmmakers don’t like actors that might give them a hard time over things. Alia is no Aamir Khan or Salman Khan to be able throw her weight around.
