I believe Barfi is one of his earlier works. There some other good works I can't remember off the top of my head. I think the main thing was still (and some might disagree. I don't care.) Karan tried too hard to copy the opulence of SLB and thus he was missing one of the main ingredients to complete it. That was more of a glam doll/all-rounder actress.
