Yep..she was just such a great dancer that people only focus on that aspect and forget that she was an amazing actress as well.

I do appreciate shows that aren't BrBa, the Americans, The Leftovers, Mad Men & Fargo (first two seasons only) are on par and something like The Wire is actually better. Person of Interest just isn't as good as these few, the acting apart from Michael Emerson was nothing amazing and the writing was often predictable and tropey. The last season felt rushed and messy as well. Its not even close to being one of the best shows ever imho but to each their own. In terms of critical acclaim its not close to those either.

I just don't think TV is better or worse than movies, there are really amazing shows and movies but most suck ass. That's just how entertainment works

Bollywood has a lot of room for improvement no doubt but I think it's unique aspects should be appreciated too. We don't need it to be exactly like Hollywood

Absolutely, yet mainstream BW too often resorts to cheap, superficial westernization, while continually shortchanging female performers and female audiences. We'll have to disagree on PoI, but, in the context of our discussion about whether 90's stars would consider TV or web series, I'd emphasize how arbitrary this whole thing is. E.g, TV used be looked down in countries such as USA (no longer the case), but always appreciated in the UK (where actors are actually respected for working in all the main media, be it TV, theatre or films). The trend with talent moving to TV will continue - there's no doubt about that. Personally, I'd love to see Madhuri and other good actresses in a well written, innovative web series.

I do agree she had good chemistry with Aamir (especially) and SRK as well.

Agree that her choice of roles was limited. But the acting prowess was there to see in them. There is a scene in Yes, Boss when she meets Kashmira Shah.

Juhi was too conscious of her image to branch out. She, I think, was more attracted by stardom than by the art. Which is a pity because she actually had tremendous talent. Something all her costars and directors say, btw. Including Amol Palekar - not a man given to false praise.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the forced western stuff in BW movies either. Regarding female audiences/performers I think thinks have improved a lot compared to before. Female lead movies with good content can be successful and there is at least some demand for them. Madhuri and Juhi just didn't take the options, Sridevi and now Rani are doing that.

True before the likes of The Sopranos (often seen as the start of this golden age of TV) tv shows were looked down on and popular HW actors never did them. Now it's become more respected for sure but I think movies still are seen as more important.

And in india it will take a long time to get to that level. The bad tv shows from the likes of Ekta Kapoor made sure of that. Netflix is trying but it's not mainstream enough in India yet to have a big impact.

Yeah Juhi definitely has the talent but like you said she stuck to her image and didn't branch out much. It was understandable in the 90's-early 2000's at least because there wasn't much demand for that but I feel that she and Madhuri could have delivered their own EV type of movie in this decade.

Instead their comebacks were underwhelming to say the least
