Saaho Ends Week With Rock Steady Collections

Saaho (Hindi) ended the week with rock steady collections on Thursday with collections in the 6.50-7 crore nett range which is the same as the day before. The film was hit by heavy rain in Mumbai / Maharashtra on Wednesday which lead to a lightly more heavier drop on Wednesday so the film will be covering some of that on Thursday. Even allowing for that the collections are steady.

The first week collections of the film will be an excellent 115 crore nett which will put it among the top five first weeks of the year for all Hindi films though without the South markets. The real value of these collections are more like 125 crore nett.

The film has really sustained well across all Hindi markets especially Delhi / UP and East Punjab which dont take to South films as well as other parts as per history but here both circuits are better than a film like Mission Mangal. They are higher than what Mission Mangal did in eight days also.

The circuit which is weakest of all is actually Mumbai but this could be due to the better start and the rain as Gujarat is very strong and its the Maharashtra side of Mumbai circuit which is weaker. The film is set to emerge a HIT and the second Friday should confirm that. If Friday actually holds well then the film could even be a SUPER HIT film and among the top four biggest HITS of this year.

I've never stayed in AP/Telangana, but what I've heard is that specifically Telugu folks (and you have to be cognizant of the existence of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam as the dominant South languages) are cinephiles. They are vociferous in their consumption of movies, and watch a lot of Bollywood and Hollywood as well, apart from the usual Telugu movies. So I'd guess for them the movie has to be good to do well.

As an extremely unscientific survey statistic, that wouldn't help at all, I can share that I asked this (middle aged Telugu) lady recently if she's planning to watch Saho, and she said that she used to be a huge fan of Prabhas, but she doesn't like his face anymore (per Saho posters/trailers etc). So she isn't a fan any longer, and wouldn't watch the movie. Aisa bhi ho sakta hai 😆
