Malhar,Kalyani and Pillu arrived at Mumbai. “Malhar ji, dekhiye na iss room se kitna accha view dikh raha hai. Ocean view, sham ko sunset dikhega, raat ko full moon aur kal subah sunrise. It is so romantic!” Malhar was glad to see his Kalyani coming back to him. He imagined slowly walking up behind her, giving her a back hug, resting his chin on her shoulders and enjoying the beautiful view. He was lost in his la la land. He wondered how his sudden move would surprise her.Would she like it? No, she would love it. He was sure of it. “Malhar ji, kitna accha hota na agar kaka ne iss hotel mein aise view wali room book ki hoti. Unka aur aai ka trip kitna romantic ho jaata waise bhi unn dono ko honeymoon pe jaane nahi mila tha. Haye! Agar mujhe pata hota na toh main unko yehi suggestion deti. Kaka ko phone karke ye idea doon kya?” She turned thinking about it. The look on Malhar’s face worried her. “Malhar ji, kya hua? Aapki tabiyat toh theek hai na?” She checked if he had a fever. “Wahan nahi yahan theek nahi hoon main.” He put her hand on his heart. “Matlab?” He cleared his throat. “Matlab, kya dushmani hai tumhe mere kaka aur kaki se? Unhe itna yaad kar rahi ho wo apni trip enjoy nahi kar pa rahe honge hichkiyaan jo aa rahihongi. Tum bas unhe yaad mat karo. Main hoon na aur Pillu hai bas humein yaad karo humaare baare mein socho.” He left to make some preparations for their day out.
Kalyani shook her head. “Pillu tere baba ko kya ho gaya hai? Kehna kuch hai kehte kuch hain. Pagal hain bilkul. Itna bhi nahi pata main toh humesha tum dono ke baare mein sochti hoon aur yaad, yaad toh tab karoon na jab tum dono mujhse bhoologe.” She got Pillu’s travel bag ready. Malhar came back just as Kalyani completed her last line. “Malhar ji, Pillu aur main tayyar hain. Chalen?”Malhar took Pillu’s bag from her. “Kalyani, mere paas tumhaare liye aisa surprise hai ki tum khushi se jhoom uthogi.” They came out of the room. “Malharji aapne acche se plan toh kiya hai na? Pillu aur main itne door aakar bore toh nahi honge na?” “Kalyani please chup raho kitna bolti ho tum. Mera surprise itna accha hai ki tum bore nahi hogi. Just trust me.”
Afew days ago,
Kalyani had been feeling lonely and bored after Anupriya married and moved out of the house with Sarthak. Kalyani had Malhar, especially Pillu with her but even then she felt Anupriya’s absence. As much as Kalyani missed her mother more than that Malhar missed his bubbly pagli. So many things had happened so far in their married life but Kalyani was never so affected by them because Anupriya was with her. Malhar had never done anything ever to make her forget those painful or hurtful moments. He thought about it now so he decided to take his family out on a trip to change the mood. Anupriya’s absence would not stop affecting Kalyani but she would get some relief if there was a change of scenery as being at home at Ahilya NIvas was a constant reminder of the times she had spent with her mother. Malhar planned a 2 days 1 night trip to Mumbai.
At first when Kalyani heard about going to Mumbai brought back the fear of her previous visit to Mumbai. Malhar saw it and took away that fear. The fear that Malhar took away was in a flash of a second replaced with excitement. “Mumbai!Malahr ji hum Mumbai ja rahe hain?” “Haan Kalyani hum Mumbai ja rahe hain.”Malhar liked it that she was excited about going on a trip with him. His smile soon faded as he realized the real reason of her excitement. “Mumbai? Aai bhi toh Sarthak kaka ke saath Mumbai gayi hai na!” “Kalyani, sochna bhi nahi. Maiya kaka ko contact nahi karna. Hum apni trip enjoy karenge aur unhe apni trip enjoy karne denge.”

The Rane family was all set for their day out. Kalyani was excited to see what Malhar’s surprise was. Moksh was smiling as his mother made funny faces. The door of the elevator opened “Aai!” Kalyani exclaimed. Malhar and Sarthak look at each other and they were so not happy seeing each other. “Malhar ji aap kitne acche hain yehi than a aapka surprise. I am so happy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.” She jumped up and down. Kalyani and Anurpiya hug each other.The latter saw something Kalyani did not. She saw the expression on her husband and son in law’s face. “Malhar, tumne bataya nahi tum Mumbai aa rahe ho aur isi hotel mein rukne wale ho.” Sarthak gritted his teeth. “Kaka agar pata hota aap bhi isi hotel mein hain toh aapko zaroor batata.” Malhar gave it back to Sarthak. “Sarthak ji, Malhar.” Anupriya glared at them. All the Ranes, came to the hotel buffet restaurant for breakfast.
“Hum breakfast lekar aate hain.” Malhar literally pulled Sarthak.”Ok toh main beverages lekar aati hoon.” Kalyani chirped as she got some naughty thought. As soon as Malhar and Sarthak got away from the mother and daughter Malhar expressed his worry. “Kaka please dekhiye mujhe Kalyani ke iraade khatarnaak lag rahe hain wo iss trip ko family trip bana degi. Please aap aur aai please uski koi baat mat suniyega.” Sarthak was very pleased to see this Malhar, he was crazy about his wife but had not confessed it to her. Sarthak too was not interested in the Familymoon. “Main kuch karta hoon, lekin Anupriya ji ki guarantee main nahi leta. You know na Kalyani ke liye wo kuch bhi kar sakti hain but meri patni tumhaari patni jitni childish nahi hain wo jaanti hain ki family or private time ko kaise divide karna hai.”
Back at the table Kalyani was back with the beverages. “Aai, Sarthak kaka ne na ye cappuccino order kiya hai. Jab wo ise peeyenge na toh iss foam I mean jhaag ki moonch ban jaayegi toh tu na unko kiss kareke na wo jhaag nikal dena. Ise na cream kiss kehte hain.” Anupriya was shocked to hear her daughter’s naughty idea. “Besharam, apni aai se aisa karne ko bol rahi hai?” “Meri bholi aai,ismein sharam ki kya baat hai kaka tere pati hain. Oh haan Malhar ji aur mere saamne karne mein sharam aayegi na lekin aai hum dono se kya sharmana. Tum dono ki love story humne hi toh set ki hai.” “Kalyani bas chup kar ja Sarthak ji aur Malhar aa rahe hain.” The two Rane males came to find a naughty smile playing on Kalyani’s lips and a blushing Anupriya. “Kya hua?” Malhar asked. “Aapko kya karna hai ma beti ki secret woman talk hai.” “Malhar rehne deye woman talk na humaare sar ke upar se jaayegi.” Sarthak gave wise advice to Malhar.
They were enjoying their breakfast and Pillu his multigrain juice. “Kya kar rahi hai aai, koni kyun maar rahi hai?” Kalyani looked at Anupriya who signed her to look at Malhar. Now Anupriya had a naughty smile on her face. Kalyani followed her mother’s eyes. “MALHAR JI!” screamed a flustered Kalyani. “Malhar ji aap chhote bacche hain kya? Ye lijiye apna moonh pochhiye. Chhote bacche ki tarah moonch bana li hai cream ki.” She shoved some tissue in his hand. Malhar and Sarthak had no idea about what had just happened. Anupriya laughed and Kalyani was feeling embarrassed. Kalyani forced a piece of toast in her mother’s mouth.They enjoyed the rest of their breakfast time.
“Malharji aapne mere liye aur kya surprise plan kiya hai? Kaka, aai aap dono bhi ab poora tume humaare saath hi rehna ok.” Kalyani was extremely happy to her mother and had become a little selfish too. She just wanted to spend time with her mother and did not think it would disturb her and her husband’s first outdoor trip also it was supposed to be Jr. Rane’s family trip. “Kalyani, wo Sarthak jiaur mujhe abhi unke ek friend ke ghar jana hai sham ko pakka time spend karenge saath mein.” Anupriya understood from Malhar and Sarthak’s expressions and made an excuse. “Ok aai, lekin sham ko pakka haan.” “Pakka pakka.” Malhar and Sarthak spoke together.
“Malharji ab hum kjya karenge? Kahan jaayenge?” Malhar was a very patient man and his wife was the exact opposite. “Kalyani, hum aquarium ja rahe hain.” Kalyani lost all excitement. “Malhar ji aap mujhe school trip par laaye hain? Aqaurium?Seriously?!” “Kalyani, school trip wali kya baat hai Mumbai ka aquarium really bahut famous hai. Main toh soch raha tha ki hum zoo aur museum bhi jaayenge.” Kalyani was really angry with Malhar. Aquarium,zoo, museum… she liked the last one she will leave her husband there, as he suited well to that place. “Kalyani, I know ki tum kya soch rahi ho but socho hum dono akele nahi hain Pillu bhi toh hai na he will enjoy at the aquarium and zoo. Rahi baat museum ki toh tum college itna bunk karti ho ki shayad museum mein kuch seekh lo ghoomne ke bahane se.” Unwillingly Kalyani followed Malhar.
While driving to the museum, they passed the Marine Drive area. “Malharji, stop stop stop.” Malhar applied the break in urgency. “Kya hua?” “Malhar ji thodi der yahan rukte hai na” “Pagal ho kya Kalyani? Itni tez dhoop hai, main sham ko tumhe yahan laoonga promise.” “Nahi abhi!” Malhar gave in. Kalyani was about to sit on the stone bench when Malhar stopped her. She smiled as he spread his handkerchief. Her dress would not spoil also the bench was very hot. Malhar took care of his wife and she of their son. Before leaving she has already taken care of his gentle skin. Now the pram was fully covered, Pillu peacefully slept protected from the sun. Malhar was making sure Pillu was comfortable. Kalyani looked to the left then to the right. She also got up and looked at the boulders alongside Marine Drive. Kalyani, looked straight at Malhar and asked, “Malhar ji, inko dekhkar aapko kuch karne ka mann nahi kar raha.” Malhar looked around and was shocked to see the couples making out in the open under the scorching sun. “KYA?Kya karne ka mann karna chahiye mujhe inko dekhkar Kalyani.” He was a little flustered by her question. “Wohi jo aapko karna chahiye lekin kar nahi rahe.” “KYA,kya karna chahiye mujhe?” “Malhar ji, ab ye bhi main aapko bataoon. Aap police officer hain na toh ye sab public behavior ke against hain. Ye khulle mein chiptam chipti karna. Aapko inhe arrest karna chahiye.” “Kalyani main kuch nahikar sakta, Mumbai mere jurisdiction ke under nahi hai.” “Toh toh kya hua? Once a cop always a cop. Cop in Aurangabad cop in Mumbai.” Kalyani was continuously staring at one couple maybe they would feel ashamed and stop their PDA. “Kalyani,chalo yahan se. Dekh kya rahi ho unhe, CHALO!” Malhar dragged her and shoved her in the jeep. “I don’t believe this Malhar ji aapne kuch nahi kiya. Main bahut disappointed hoon.” Malhar drove off and on his way he saw a traffic police vehicle there he left the information about the activities he has seen.
At the aquarium, Kalyani was enjoying watching the fishes. Malhar was all smiles seeing the kid in Kalyani surface as she pat the window to attract the fish towards her. Pillu was awake now and it was his first time seeing fish. He too was giggling. They were near the shark aquarium and Pillu got a bit scared. Malahr glared at the shark and it went away. “Dekha Pillu baba hai na, baba ke hote hue tumhe koi nahi dara sakta.” He kissed Pillu and looking over his head his eyes fell on Kalyani making fish faces. Everything around Malhar spaced out he could only see her pouted lips. Kalyani felt his eyes on her and looked towards him her lips still pouting. This girl was making it difficult for him and she did not even get it. They enjoyed their little trip to the aquarium.
In the evening, just as they had planned the entire Rane family went for an outing. Malhar, Pillu and Sarthak were feeling left out as Anupriya and Kalyani were stuck to each other. They went to the chowpatty beach for a family picnic. Malhar and Sarthak wanted to enjoy a romantic stroll on the beach with their respective wives but unfortunately their wives did not share the same thoughts.The chacha bhateeja were babysitting Moksh. They made a small sand mound,Sarthak and Malhar dug from both sides and inserted their hands in the tunnel and shook hands inside the mound. Malhar did the same with Moksh. It was a new experience for the child. Malhar helped Moksh ride a pony whereas Anupriya and Kalyani enjoyed on the carousel. It was time for some pet pooja. Kalyani and Anupriya wanted to have gola. Sarthak and Malhar readily agreed with an idea in mind. “Aaitujhe kaunsa gola chahiye?” “Kala khatta.” “Mujhe bhi.” “Malhar tum kaunsa loge?” Anupriya asked. “Nahi nahi aai inse thandi cheezein nahi khayi jaati. Ek chammach ice cream khakar do din cheenktein hain. Inke liye no gola.” “Kaka aap?” Kalyani asked. “Nahi nahi Kalyani inhe college mein lecture dena hai waise bhi gale mein kharash ho rakhi hai aur kharab hoi jaayega.” Kalyani and Anupriya wanted the same gola. “Aai ek idea hai, dekh hum dono ko ek hi flavor ka gola chahiye toh hum ek hi mangate hain. Dono ek mein se hi khayenge phir doosra mangayenge kyunki poora khate khate gola pighal jaayega phir maza nahiaayega.” Anupriya agreed with her daughter. They shared the same gola sucking on it from opposite sides. Malhar and Sarthak’s face fell to the sand. They wanted this sweet moment with their respective wives and maybe just maybe Malhar thought that by then end of the gola he could taste her sweet lips but they say na ‘naseeb hi gandu toh kya karega pandu.’ Malhar and Sarthak cursed their kismet. They had good in fact great life partners but their life partners preferred each other more than them.
Well there was always the next time they thought and silently consoled each other. Kalyani wanted to spend more time with Anupriya but the latter wanted to give some time to her husband now that she had spent such a lovely time with her daughter. She was the smarter one. They returned to their respective rooms.
In KalMa room,
“Malharji ye kya hai? Aapne Pillu ke liye paalna kyun mangwaya. Mujhe daant te rehte hain fizool kharchi ki aur aap. Ek raat ki toh baat hai Pillu humaare saath bed pe so jaata.” She said undressing Pillu so that she could give him a bath. Since they were not at home they had decided to share the bed. Malhar was borderline angry with Kalyani. He had not got to spend a moment with her.Their personal trip had turned into a familymoon. “Kalyani tum kitni nasamajh ho Moksh ko side mein sulaya aur wo gir gaya toh you know na ab wo turn kartahai apne aap.” “Malhar ji aap bhi na mujhe sab samajh aata hai Main Pillu koside mein nahi humaare beech sulaane ka keh rahi thi.” “Haan Kalyani tumhe toh SAB samajh mein aata hai. Tumse zyada samajhdaar insaaan toh main apni poori life mein nahi dekha.” He gritted his teeth. Another excuse came to his intelligent mind. “Kalyani, tum Moksh ki feelings ko toh samjho Moksh ko apne personal crib mein sone ki aadat hai. Bed par tumhara Pillu uncomfortable hoga na.” Kalyani became thoughtful. “Haan Malhar ji aap sahi keh rahe hain. Mera Pillu shuru se independent akele apne crib mein sota hai. Aapne accha kiya Malhar ji.” Phew! Finally,one thing went according to Malhar’s plan. He decided to take it a step further.
Pillu was fast asleep, Kalyani came out after freshening. “Malhar was sleeping on his side of the bed with his right arm stretched out. Kalyani was staring at his stretched arm. “Oh wo ye Kalyani aaj pooora din Moksh ko utha uthakar chala na toh haath mein dard ho raha hai. Agar tum uncomfortable ho mere haath aise rakhkar sone mein toh koi baat nahi.” He had played his card properly. “Nahi nahi Malharji mujhe koi problem nahi hai.” “Thanks Kalyani tum kitni understanding ho. Ab agar tum ek aur favor karo agar tum apna sar mere haath par rakhkar so jao toh wo kya hai na isi bahane mere haath ka massage ho jaayega aur subah tak dard ek dum gayab.” Kalyani was genuinely worried for the pain in his arm. She slept using his arm as a pillow. Malhar watched her as she slept peacefully with a smile. Her smile was infectious he too slept with abroad smile on his face dreaming of a new beginning with his wife, Kalyani.
