Not Marriage - Age Destroys Career

I have done a lot of thinking and I have come to this conclusion. Its not marriage- but age that destroys careers.

No Actress has MAINTAINED or reached her PEAK after crossing a particular age past 30. Eldest female actor to win an award was Nutan, she was 42 and thats back in 1979! Sridevi won for Mom but we know why.How to fix this? Why cant Madhuri dixit come in a solo film and the film actually be a hit? Why does she always have to be the Kalank ka Tika? Why cant Jaya Bachchan come in a solo movie? Why do we only know her as the Menopause Ki Maadari?

Now that Kareena-Deepika-Anu-Sonam-Katrina-Kangana have crossed 30's that's why their brand value has plummeted. Nobody cares about them the way we used to. Even Priyanka too. Old Superstars Ash, Karishma, Rani are now has-been house moms. Even Alia's hype has decreased from before than she has reach mid-20s, even she is considered almost old. When will this thinking change? when will we celebrate women in their 50's. why cant we admire Jaya's long grey hair or Rekha's botoxed face?

Most people will say oh its okay they have their own life now blah blah...true...but their husbands are still enjoying superstardom and wives left behind with kache daage and a toddler who eventually will benefit from nepo-party.

Agree but it's mind set in our region Emma stone winning awards despite 30 plus getting more then deepika and any bollywood actress here so mind set need to change how srk in richest actor list yet when his movie not even cross 250 cr once or his last 3movies not crossing hit tag even what criteria of stardom is idont know hits or looks or both in India because despite hits many still stars

I blame society and peopel for this. They support criminals like Dutt but cant support innocent talented old women

FYI - madhuri was 30 when she did dil to pagal hain.. kajol was 27 when she did k3g. . . I think the girls today (kareena, deepika , priyanka , Kangana, anushka & Alia) are going to kick some ass & change the narrative. Unless they decide to on their own choice, mark my words - they will be acting at least for the next 15 years!

There have been many women in their 40s delivering hits in the past and even til today have actresses closer to 40 still getting roles. Nothing to do with age, it’s just audience interested changes. Some get undesirable after marriage and that’s the truth.

It’s not about hits. I’m talking about maintaining their status as a “top” heroine. No one has done that

Yeah but their hype is gone? We can pretend that people girl about girls of today but we all know everyone is secretly more into Ananya And Janhvi.

India's undemanding audiences and their deeply rooted sexism and ageism ruin careers. That and Bollywood filmmakers' provincialism and lack of vision and skills. Unless general approval of nepotism and mediocrity are curbed, post-90's Bollywood will remain the laughing stock of film industry despite its potential.

In the United States and Europe 40+, 50+ (like my beloved Gillian Anderson, below) or 60+ actresses have thriving careers, getting to play fantastic roles. Their wrinkles don't make them less interesting or desirable. They don't have to play the game of faux patriotism and they are not judged as freaky or immoral for playing sex scenes because the audiences there understand the difference between a character and a real person.

Well hell, you want a prize for stating the obvious? You age enough you’ll be a long time dead.

BW heroes are going down down.30 + actresses are not going to save BW.Keep crying.

How old are Anushka shetty,Nayantara,Manju Warrier ? You know why they work?Work is interesting,there is talent.

How old is Neeru Bajwa?

rekha,hema,sharmila,rakhi-you name it all yesteryear actresses in BW and south worked till 40..after marriage and kids..including mahanati Savitri.

Did you see Prabhas opening,with shows cancelled.30 cr non holiday with terrible reportsin hindi.100 crores all india.

BW heroes with non top press have no standing today.

Go worry about your heroes and industry.
