anyways nice thread Luna, this is what we should be doing in a movies forum, discussing movies.
Obviously our(not all but most of us including me) temptation of discussing the sex and romanctic life of celebs is stronger than our desire to discuss movies.

Jumping off the building actually helped him in not getting rusticated and getting a positive attitude.😆
Phunsuk Wangdu was an adult and was responsible for his own actions. He wasn't exploited by Ranchhodas family. He could've said no and walked away. Being an orphan doesn't give him right to commit fraud. He was part of the act, so yes, he can be charged for faking identity.
FY BTech students are usually 17-18 years old. So Phunsuk Wangdu could feasibly have been a minor when sent to the college by the Chanchad family. In addition, Phunsuk Wangdu could have even been younger.
But assuming that Phunsuk Wangdu was 18 he can easily claim not guilty by duress.
To charge anyone with fraud, you not only need the "act" of fraud but also the "intent" to commit fraud. The "intent" is very shaky in this case.

Phunsuk Wangdu might be a minor when he took admission but when he graduated, he must have been above 18 and an adult.
He can't really claim duress when he was staying away from the Chanchad family in Delhi. He could've ran away from the hostel whenever he wanted.
The intent was to fake an identity and then give your degree to someone else. He can be charged for that.
Hirani's movies aren't supposed to be taken seriously. I know it sounds like an oxymoron because he makes social dramedies. But his movies are nothing more than dramatized annual school plays that should be watched for entertainment purposes only.
The message you want to see is the message you see :p
