I think credit goes more to the chartbuster songs than the actors

Suniel shetty has played second lead in many films but his roles were always substance backed. Even in dilwale movie. He is also underrated. Akshay Kumar could not give the thrill for character which suniel shetty delivered. Gopi Kishan , bhai, krodh, border, rakshak, mohra, dilwale are among my favorites.

I give credit to the songs than the actors...

they were all mediocre...only naseerudin stood out what a character he played...simply outstanding and paresh rawal he was hilarious👍

for me the film worked due to the chartbuster songs...each song were gem and diamonds

in this current days we still talk abt mohra songs rather than talk abt its story and actors...we talk abt the singers of the film rather than the actors...even now the songs are being played and even me too listen to the songs in my playlist....my fav is na kajre ki dhar..tu cheez badi...subha se leke...ae kaash kahiin aisa hota ke do dil hote seene mein

if talking abt the characters,sunil's character has more edge than akshay's...

Sunil Shetty had meatier role than Akshay both in terms of screen presence and timing.

However, it was Naseeruddin Shah who had the most profound role in terms of impact and delivery. Had it not been for him, the film would have fallen flat on its face instead of the blockbuster it became.

Akshay was more like a sidey dancing on Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast and romancing the female lead on Tip Tip Barsa Pani...

Agreed. Anna was great in Rakshak and Gopi-Kishan.

Kajre Ki Dhar, which was my personal fav, was picturised on Sunil and the other girl but it didn't have the same impact as the former two songs I mentioned. So clearly Akshay was loved more than Sunil even back then.

I have watched the movie recently that's why I made the thread.😆 What made you think it was an "out and out" Akshay movie? He had nothing substantial to do in the film until the climax. The whole film's plot was driven by Suniel and Naseeruddin. Akshay was only there for the songs and few action sequences. Suniel's character got an arc and Naseeruddin got the praises for his acting as usual. And neither Akshay was a Superstar at that time to sell the film on his name. So he shouldn't be credited for the film's success. For the songs, the credit goes to singers more than anyone.

People never liked Sunil Shetty - he had a killer body but nobody cared. Everyone loved Akshay and he was the lady’s man of that time

In childhood I used to like Suniel Shetty more than Akshay whenever I saw their movies where they starred together. Not that I like Akshay more now. Both are equal for me.
