the rejection which babita keeps repeating in her mind are the hurtful words he told her that night previously. Even mini knows hanuman did that on purpose to push her away because of the case. he did not actually insult her with his heart. how does babita fail to interpret that?
If she was confused and stepping back regarding hanumans love for imarti due to which no one else is in his heart, if she really is important in his life, i would understand that. But here she is not even introspecting why he spoke to her like that. And even mini is not telling.
For hanuman the past has opened up with this case. And he suddenly has been filled with memories of imarti, he is now doubtful if he can erase those memories enough to give babita what she deserves. He now thinks he made a mistake by involving babita in all this.
I think it's a matter of perspective. As Minnie said, Babita was too close to Hanuman to see what he was doing. HS said those words as she felt attacked. That emotion alone was too much for her to bear. Thus, for her to put aside her feelings and consider what he was going through was a bit much. Minnie on the other hand, was looking at them from afar. She had the clarity to see what they were both going through and dissect the reasoning behind their actions.
Minnie has told her why. She told her the day she left the haveli and then again that night during their convo.
I get HS too. Him falling in love with Babes was proof to him that he was able to put Imarti behind. That he too, had the capability of falling in love again. But the case's sudden revival, resurrected everything related to Imarti. All her memories, the love they shared, her illness, his agony, her tragic death, his guilt in somehow having a hand in it... it's all too fresh and real.
