Do you have exact numbers? If you have exact figures than you can do the math and find out the exact ratio to know which continent is ahead. Otherwise, I would recommend you to stop assuming things. I know, it happens in india so often but let's be logical rather than regressive we all know its not subcontinent issue but it's actually a worldwide issue.

One in every third woman in India.

Also this is happening in a desi society hence my comment. Ofcourse it happens everywhere but it is almost encouraged here and part of society. Husband getting angry and beating up his wife or daughters is guised as part of family. So much so that it's the way of life for most and they don't even know it's happening. I would say people in western countries are a lot more self aware too. I don't get you at all. Yeah its a problem everywhere but domestic violence is rampant in most families in desi societies and hence my comment.

Look at the data about how many rapes n domestic violence cases go unnoticed unreported. How correct is the statistics then if so many won't even report. I have a sister who is divorce lawyer n she sees girls who come with marks on their back still saying I don't want divorce make a solution for mutual reunion. She tries to help them with counseling then, parents force too,the Mana lo tendency is huge

My sixth sense works, Usually the one who says a lot, does nothing in real sense. Still, if you have any proof or are you running a small council or anything like that, you can put up the stats on here so we all what you've did as awareness specialist other than ranting.

Spread awareness than if you really care. Invest in various NGOs across india, Help them organise awareness programs. Make it happen instead of commenting. Best of luck. 👍🏼

It is not as easy as educating people about it. You can't tell a father not to beat his son, it is his right for him, police won't help saying it is their personal matter, son won't file a complaint because he loves his father. Situation is same in case of husband and wife, majority of these cases are not registered, family will cut off their daughter and daughter in law if she files a complaint, they are not financially equipped to take a stand for themselves, financial problem can be solved with strong will but they are emotionally attached to their husbands and tolerate abuse in name of love.

This is not limited to rural area, domestic violence is in every Indian household.

If a woman takes it to police station, police's first priority is solving the matter before they file an FIR, more crime in their area means they are not working properly. Other nations have more registered cases because they get a chance to register it.

Domestic violence, rape and objectification of women is a worldwide problem....but in India most women are not financially independent....society is patriarchal.....these things make the situation worse .

Coming to the topic - very very unfortunate !! Shweta is my favorite actress, so I'm feeling really bad for her....though we should still hear both the sides before the picture gets clearer....

This is the answer of so called question " How and why woman do not file complaint" Reason - Emotional attachment. You make a lot of sense probably better sense than one sided news searching. LMAOO. Cant stop thinking about this idiots.

Where's the link? Gimme a proper source. Also do factor in that rape and domestic violence are hardly reported. Even then anyone living in India would tell you that noway is India that safe for women.
