Coming back to the context, yes, you can fall again in love with someone else but still in your heart or subconscious mind you have feelings for your previous one. That’s natural. That’s how memory works.

It’s similar to experiencing the death or separation with your friends maybe. We still keep loving them, remembering how good it was but at the same time, in the present might expect great bonds with someone else. Unfulfilled desires lead to longing. Haven’t we heard of old flames recurring in perfect lives and then begins dangerous liaisons. Had it been animals, it’s perfect to philander. But aren’t animals anymore, are we?

As simple as that. Love can happen many times, at the same time with two different people with different emotions and forms.
