OMG it's so bullshit when celebs get fake 'honorary degrees' from universities for absolutely nothing. They make enough $$ in their profession for doing what they do. People study their asses off for these degrees and to see celebs get them for doing literally 0 for these is kind of disrespectful. People spend so much time, money and brains to get these. Though I have no doubt celebs probably pay more $$$$ for these than any other lay person.

People who work their ass off for these degrees use these degrees to get a job, SRK won't be listing it in his resume for a job. It will be in the long list of his achievements, nothing else

Idk maybe for being one of the most inspiring success stories on the planet ever. Man comes to Bombay with nothing but a note in his pocket and builds one of the greatest one man cinema business empires right from scratch. All this while struggling to cope up with loss of parents at a very early stage in life. Shah is one of the most self made people on the planet. God's favorite and destiny's child. I can't even imagine someone in today's generation doing that. This Delhi boy took Bollywood to a global stage. All thanks to his unmatchable wit and keen business acumen.

That's one of the best things can be said about any human being. He's earned it.

The live stream is over now.

What exactly did he do for humanity

Seriously? Spreading the message of peace, tolerance and love through his movies and who he is as a person especially in the face of rampant hate and communalism. For taking on the responsibility of pretty much every acid attack victim in India, running and financing cancer wards in leading hospitals, his tie-ups with organizations for handicapped children, being on the board of directors for the Make a Wish Foundation, providing electricity for dozens for villages and much more.

Do you know the difference between a regular degree and an honorary degree?

Honorary degrees are awards for people with world-renowned achievements. It was not only for his acting work but for the tremendous amount of charity work he does. It will also help many others as the university also named a PHD scholarship in his honor for one girl from India every year. Each scholarship is valued at $200K AED.
