Beautifully put. Blood ties are overrated. Ashok never appreciated what he had, while HS values even the smallest of things, having lost so much. Also, I think he's naturally very protective. We talk about maa ki mamta. I don't know what the equivalent is for fathers, but he has that in abundance. I love the fact that the writers are focusing on a father's emotions and showing how kids need both parents for their emotional development, not just their mothers.
