“Fate. As a child, that word was often my only companion. It whispered to me from dark corners during lonely nights. It was the song of the birds in spring and the call of the wind through bare branches on a cold winter afternoon. Fate. Both my anguish and my solace. My escort and my cage.”
― Leslye Walton, The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender
As she stood before God today desperately asking for direction Misthi couldn’t help but ponder on a moment from her childhood. A memory long forgotten that chose to resurface at this moment where she had to make a choice.
“A 10 year old Misthi smiled as she helped Kartik Bhai her bff sneak in to meet Naira. She knew they loved each other, as they made their way to the terrace presumedly to talk to each other Mishti cast a longing look to their retreating form. She made her way to the mandir they had in their house and said, ”Main do lovers ki itni help kar rahi hu please jab mera time ahayay ga aap bhi meri help karna mat bhoolna(I am helping two people in love so when my time comes please, don't forget to help me too)”.
As the mandir bell chimed she came back to the present. She looked at the idols in front of her and fumed: ”Time and time again I have asked you for so many things and most of the times I ended up being disappointed but I didn’t complain but I wished you had helped me today. Agar woh meri qismat main nahi tha toh phir uss ko meri zindagi main shammil kyun kiya? Agar iss pyar ki koi manzil nahi thi toh phir meray dil main itna pyar kyun bhara? Galti meri thi I thought I deserved a chance at happiness. Please, meri help karay mujh say yay nahi ho payay ga. Please, give me strength” Her anger give way to tears. As she turned back her eyes fell on that pillar in front of which he was sitting that day. His antics that day had some what convinced Badi Maa and Varsha aunty for Kuhu’s Ristha. She couldn’t take it anymore. If she stayed here any longer she might never be able to leave. With a resigned sigh Misthi descended the Mandir’s stairs and took a cab to the bus station.
A/N: Okay so I have this idea. Let's see where it goes. Do leave your thoughts:) The particular scene I mentioned here actually did take place in the parent show.
