In the Malabar regions of Kerala communism rose as a way to counter upper caste dominance. It is an ideology that resonates with the working class of Kerala. It may have "mass killings" like any other political ideology but don't reduce it to just that.

As for the swag part Vijay D. could have looked at Nivin or DQ for some semblance of what it means to be a (any) party leader.

I cant comment on the swag part of it. But isnt that how communism rose anywhere in the world...propaganda against the haves like the pigs do in animal farm and...Its easy to give the have nots a common enemy as a rallying point.

I guess you're from Kerala. Are the people happy with communism? And yet Kerala has the best social indicators on the planet...yet look at the other communist state of India-bengal.

I do think it is the enterprising nature of the Malayalis themselves...We're all highly impressed how the Malayalis handled the flood situation.

True. Idk how happy people r, because I live overseas. But while I agree with everything you say, I think the problems that occurred in Soviet Union, China and other places don't lie with the ideology, but rather the implementation of it. If communism was carried out in its true sense, then the victims becoming the perpetrators (the pigs becoming human beings, the working class becoming the elite etc.) would not have happened. Communism (about work in the capitalist economy losing individualism, work being important to human beings as a form of expression of personality) sounds legit to me. But the problem lies with the innate flaws within human nature. I mean, if you look at, where in the world is democracy being applied in its truest sense (maybe India hm?) and what about problems associated with democracy such as tyranny of the majority?

That's why I didnt condemn Kerala communism outright because unlike the rest of the world something has worked so far for Kerala, right? No I dont think any system is perfect...but systems have a way of correcting themselves. Tyranny of the majority...in what way..Who is the majority? Is it decided by race, colour, religion, creed, gender or just economic status? Because the smart or the strong will always find a way to rise to the top and everyone else left behind...the proletariat.... will always be in majority because whenever someone rises up they cease to be proletariat?

Communism has failed everywhere and led to deaths of more than 100 million people worldwide. Kerala runs on expat money doesnt it? Yes it sounds great on paper but only on paper...how can human nature be excluded from a system run by humans? It can never work unless certain people are excluded. And that goes against the very nature of the ideology.
