Prerna did love Anurag alot but he never seemed to be there for her or trust her. She ofcourse married Mr Bajaj to save Anurag and his business but both Bajaj and Prerna eventually fell in love. Bajaj's character went through a change over the course. From being a ruthless businessman to a supportive and loving husband. Whereas Anurag was shown as someone without a backbone who was easily swayed by what others said against Prerna.

As far as I know in season 1 Bajaj's character wasn't suppose to go this far. His was suppose to be a short cameo of some 6 months but the audience really liked him and so the makers decided to bring him back and I guess the storyline was changed from Anurag-Prerna to Bajaj-Prerna.As far as my analysis goes, they completely butchered Anurag's character just so Bajaj and Prerna can be brought together.

Now whether they decide to do the same in season 2 is something we will have to wait and watch.

He didn't actually die when Prerna killed him. He returned after 20 years with a new actor. 🤣

Yes. Prerna had already given birth before RB's entry and when the latter entered she worked under him.
