A good bartender in London can earn a minimum of £30,000 a year depending on where they work plus tips. There are roughly 100 Indian rupees to one Pound Sterling. So a fairly small amount of money was probably required to fund the property in India and invest in his Indian businesses. This is probably the most realistic part of the Ashok x Meeta story - I know Indian waitresses on minimum wage (£15,000 per year salaries ) who can afford to save and fund MBAs / buy huge properties in major cities / afford top Indian boarding schools for their kids.

no bar tender earns that, not even in London where at most at a top end place with 10+ years experience is about £9 per hour. The average London bartender salary is £19-23k per year with tips, 15-17k elsewhere in the country. They are paid minimum wage. This isn’t a lot especially in an expensive city like London where the living wage is over £9 per hour. I personally think the whole back story was poorly thought out compared to the storylines since the start of the show. Initially meeta was perceived as a spoilt princess, well off etc and now there’s a woe is me back story attached to her.

Head bartenders in London earn £30k plus. Many in 5 star hotels or top cocktail bars earn £40-50k and nearly all these guys are either from Central Europe or India.
