err...people can take alcohol in very moderate amounts once in a while even when they r on medications. Even Doctors admit that it helps in liver and kidney disease and also helps in metabolism. HOWEVER, its a strict NO-NO for an alcoholic because they would develop the habit even touching even a drop of liquor once or twice.
Cool Doctors. I never met a Nephrologist or Hepatologis who recommended booze. But I ain't heard it all, I know for a fact some people think their problems all magically disappear after a drink or two . However the key in my statement is; "when taken with medication, it may". Some people swill their antipsychotic meds with booze and think its a heavenly combination. The irony is that they are taking antipsychotics to begin with.
I respect yours and those doctors opinions but I will maintain my stance that: Alcohol can adversely interact with hundreds of commonly used medications and herbal remedies. Even in small amounts, alcohol also may intensify medication side effects such as sleepiness, drowsiness, and light-headedness, which may interfere with your concentration and ability to operate machinery, drive a vehicle, or make coherent choices.
Peace.
