You may recall her as the sensational Tirchi Topi Waale girl from the famous movie Tridev, and from her many onscreen avatars as the lead star of Ajooba, Vijay, Mitti Aur Sona and Vishwatma, among others.

But offscreen, Sonam aka Bakhtavar Khan was just a simple girl who gave it all up for the love of her life, filmmaker Rajiv Rai.

After acting in some of the biggest blockbusters in the 80s, Khan decided to settle down and shift base permanently to the US and later Switzerland with her husband. During this time, the couple were blessed with a son, Gaurav, who is 23-years-old now.

However, their marriage did not last that long and the couple were back to India by 2011. That's when they decided to stay separately. In fact, they recently got divorced ending their 25-years of marriage and the reason they waited so long was because they were waiting for Gaurav to turn 18, so he could veto their decision to divorce.

Although Rai and Khan are divorced today, they continue to remain good friends. But that is not the only latest development in this yesteryear star's life. Reportedly Khan has started a new chapter in her life and has found love in a Puducherry-based businessman.

Sonam finds love again

The Tridev star and niece of veteran actor Raza Murad shared some good news with the media when she announced that she had once again found love and is now a married woman. Yes, you read that right.

Khan who moved to the Andheri-based suburbs of Mumbai recently met Murali Poduval in Puducherry and love blossomed. Poduval who is a divorcee himself soon popped the question and the two decided to get married.

And even though Khan has not personally shared the news with her ex-husband, she is sure he knows and there is no bad blood between the two.

"I'm not in touch with him but I'm sure he knows. I don't want to comment anymore as it's in a personal space and I only want to speak about the happiness that I'm feeling now," she told BT.

No bad blood between the exes

Even her ex-husband, Rajiv Rai shared last year that the two are well settled where they are and have no conflict whatsoever.

"In these 15 years we went for holidays together where we stayed in separate rooms. We’ve traveled to different parts of the world for our son’s education. Sonam and I held on to this marriage for so long, as we were waiting for our son to turn 18. He is 23 today and has accepted our decision with a lot of maturity. Had he vetoed it, we wouldn’t have gone ahead with it. Instead, he said that both of us have every right to live our individual lives. The doors of both our houses are open for him, and it is up to him to decide who he wants to stay with. In fact, right now he is working with my production house. She has been a good wife and mother, and I have no complaints. Don’t be surprised if you spot us in a restaurant having lunch together,’ Rajiv told a leading daily last year.

Suman Ranganathan, who is known as an ever-green heroine in Sandalwood, has tied the knot to a Bengaluru-based businessman, Sajan Chinnappa. The couple married in a low-key event on Monday, 3 June at a register office.

Speaking to The Times of India, Suman Ranganathan said that her hubby is from Kodagu and they tied the knot after dating for eight months. "We have been dating since then and we thought it was time for us to get married. On Monday, we had just close family and friends around us as we opted to do a registered marriage," the daily quotes her as saying.

On asking the reason behind tying the knot without media glare, Suman said that they both are private people and wanted their wedding to be "an intimate affair" which had the presence of their close friends and relatives.

"I think this is another reason why we have come together, because we have such common interests. We are very similar people. He is very simple and down-to-earth, which is what made that connect easier. Since we are looking at the same direction in life and have similar thought processes, we are just meant to be together," she further added.

Suman Ranganathan, aged 44, had earlier married to Bollywood producer Bunty Walia. Unfortunately, their relationship did not last long as they parted ways in less than a year after their wedding.

On the professional front, Suman started her career with Shankar Nag's CBI Shankar. Since then, she acted in over 50 movies in all the leading languages of India that include Hindi and Tamil.

A special court designated under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act ordered the attachment of properties of former Bollywood actress, Mamta Kulkarni, one of the accused in a Rs2,000-crore drug haul in Thane.

The case was registered at Vartak Nagar police station when the police arrested two men with ephedrone in Vartak Nagar on April 13, 2016. Total 20.25 tonnes of ephedrine was seized in the haul. The police traced the source of the drugs to a Solapur factory. On June 18, 2016, Kulkarni’s name cropped up in the case when one of the accused, Jay Mukhi, said he saw Kulkarni in a meeting regarding the drug trade in Kenya.

In June 2017, a proclamation order was issued against Kulkarni and her alleged husband Vicky Goswami. Thane police had issued notices against her three flats in Versova in Mumbai, which cost around Rs20 crore.

The notices said that if by July 10, 2018, both accused do not come to the police station to record their statement, the police might seize their property. “After many months, when they failed to appear before the court, the court issued orders to seize their property. We are most likely to get the order by tomorrow,” said an officer from the Thane commissionerate.

The order was given by special NDPS court judge HM Patwardhan last week. Special public prosecutor, Shishir Hirey said, “The court directed the attachment of only Mamta Kulkarni’s properties.”

Till now, 14 people have been arrested in the case, while five are on the run and are abroad, including Kulkarni.

An unusual status update on Facebook caught my attention.

It was not just a Facebook status but a statement which a lot of people will find difficult to relate to.

It was a status update that would get anybody curious. I wouldn’t be able to replicate the exact words, but the update went something like this…

‘Today I found a tear-drop rolling down my left cheek. I was surprised. My mother was ecstatic! She said, ‘Look Anu, you are crying!’ This is the first time in so many years that I felt a tear-drop on cheeks. I feel so happy!’

So, what is it about a drop of tear that was making this woman so happy?

I decided to find out more about the woman who posted this curious status update on Facebook.

The name of the woman is Anu Aggarwal — the siren who made young India skip a beat when she took shelter under Rahul Roy’s jacket in an iconic scene from Aashiqui (1990), exactly 23 years ago. Anu Aggarwal still remains a mystery to most after she suddenly disappeared from Bollywood a few years later. Most don’t know where she is and what she is doing.

Yes, she has an amazing story to tell. It is a story of survival against such odds that appeared insurmountable at first.

The accident which nearly killed Anu Aggarwal

What the status didn’t say was this: It’s been more than a decade since Anu Aggarwal cried. The same Anu, who sobbed uncontrollably on screen in Aashiqui because her father was not letting her meet her boyfriend, had forgotten how to cry.

It is because Anu Aggarwal was nearly killed in an accident in 1999.

The Anu Aggarwal who emerged from the wreck was a new woman.

After the accident, Anu ‘slept’ for 29 days at a stretch and then suddenly snapped out of the coma to discover that she had broken 29 bones in her body. The accident was so severe that a part of her body including a portion of her face was paralysed.

Had it been anyone else, he or she would have probably thought that life couldn’t have been more cruel.

But the accident gave birth to a new Anu Aggarwal.

I have been interacting with Anu through her Facebook page. It seemed that she is basking in the peace of staying far away from Bollywood.

What happened to Anu Aggarwal?

If you ask her, she will say that she doesn’t remember what happened except for the fact that she was driving a car and then she crashed it at high speed. Beyond this fact there is nothing left in her memory.

There are few facts available about the accident except for that it happened in 1999 in south Mumbai and from where an unconscious Anu was taken to Breach Candy Hospital.

There she did not respond to treatment initially but her heart was beating like normal. The beating of heart never stopped for 29 days as she lay in a coma at the ICU of Breach Candy Hospital.

When she opened her eyes, her slate had been wiped clean. She couldn’t remember anything that led to the crash.

Some eyewitnesses who visited her after the crash said that Anu was speaking in English all the time and once-in-a-while she would be left blank in between conversations.

Over the next 10 days, after she woke up from her coma, Anu had difficulty recognising people.

But it would be wrong to assume that Anu Aggarwal retreated into a self-imposed exile after the accident.

Anu Aggarwal had left Bollywood long ago nearly four before her accident to live a life of a recluse. She had already chosen a life of a traveller, flitting across continents to attend yoga camps.

Anu had bid adieu to Bollywood and is not planning to return either.

This is the reason why you don’t find her interviews in the media post 1995.

Where is Anu Aggarwal now?

It’s difficult to reach Anu Aggarwal today when she decides to be offline. She has always hated to remain under the spotlight and today, she teaches yoga at the Bihar School of Yoga in Munger, Bihar.

There Anu has a small room for herself which is devoid of any luxuries that she once enjoyed while living in Mumbai.

Every year, hundreds of aspirants enrol for the yoga courses at the Ashram and if you are lucky, you will get to stay on the campus.

Anu is one of the most low-key but highly efficient teachers there. Anu does come to Mumbai once in a while but those trips are always hush-hush.

It has been reported that Anu is writing an autobiography about her days as a model and an actor.

Just like her, the book promised to be a no-holds-barred revelation of her past which includes stories of how she was treated by her former boyfriends and her drug abuse.

Those were the days that shaped Anu Aggarwal as a star. But the Anu Aggarwal of today, who is looking back at those days, is a different woman.

She is writing the book on this desk (picture on left).

Today Anu is not the person she used to be. She is a person who never cared about media exposure. Maybe that explains why she hasn’t responded to most journalists who are chasing her day in and day out for an interview.

Married to an investment banker, Meenakshi Sheshadri currently lives in Plano, Texas.

She swooned many with her charming looks and impeccable dance moves in the movie Hero. But just when one thought that she was just another pretty face, she stunned the critics and masses alike with her stellar performances in Damini and Ghayal.

And, just as she was about to become the Queen of Bollywood she said bye-bye to stardom and got married to a man in the US and never returned. We’re talking about none other than Meenakshi Sheshadri, the beautiful actress who was paired with all the top heroes of her time including Rishi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Sunny Deol.

But that was then. Today, Meenakshi is a mother to three kids and stays in Texas with her husband and is busy being a doting mother and housewife, away from her glamour days.

Meenakshi met her husband Harish Mysore, an investment banker in New York through a journalist friend when she was going to New York for the Independence Day Parade.

“I actually met his sister, she was a journalist and she met me because she had some work and I was going to New York for the Independence Day parade, so she told me that my brother is in New York and those days, I was looking for marriage, so I asked her immediately, “Is your brother married? I like you very much, even in one meeting I feel I know you very well, so is your brother anything like that” so she said, “My brother is better than me”. So, we met in New York and got to know each other and felt we were right for each other. So, it was more like a love marriage, but we were set-up, we did not meet accidentally,” she told the Times of India in an interview.

The couple has three children, daughter Kendra and sons Josh and Matt. After her kids were born Meenakshi decided to put everything on the backburner and focus on parenting her three kids.

“I took a long break as we knew that our kids would be educated here, he would be working here, for me to leave them and go to India and work was not going to happen and I was very clear on that. So, I decided that I will put a full brake and only after kids give me permission I will go back,” she added.

Currently, Meenakshi teaches Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Odissi in the US an performs with her students at charity events and fundraisers. A philanthropist, Meenakshi and her disciples performed at the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) convention in California.

However, she still misses her work and life in India.

“Not just film industry but being in India and having so many opportunities to do creative work, acting, dancing, being in company of really talented performers, learning from their work, I miss that and I think another challenge was adjusting to life here, I was really clueless, on how to live in America, like many people who come here and I took a long time to understand how to live life here, I am still learning,” she says.

Meanwhile, there are rumours that Sunny Deol productions have approached her for the remake of Ghayal. WE just hope that we get to see her on the silver screen again. Keeping our fingers crossed :)!!!

Bollywood is one unexpected world where at times one who is less known or less loved is given more work than those who are popular and a favourite of many.

Actress Priya Gill, who is till date remembered for her subtle performance in Punjabi film Jee Aayan Nu opposite Harbhajan Maan, is one example of a good actress who was left with no option but to bid goodbye to the industry owing to lack of work.

There is an unofficial page of Actress Priya Gill on Facebook where many people inquire about her whereabouts. A guy from Calcutta asked me if she is active in Punjabi films while a Goan guy is super crazy about her. Sirf Tum (a good success) might have done nothing for Priya but it did help Sushmita Sen in her career, even though she only had a cameo in the movie. Surprisingly Sirf Tum is one of the most favourite film of Indian masses. Priya and her girl next door character is still adored by many.

Before we tell you about her whereabouts, let's look back at her filmy journey. Priya Gill hails from an army background based in Punjab. After she won a local beauty contest, she participated in the Miss India pageant. It was during then that she got engaged to an Army Pilot but sadly he passed away in an unfortunate MIG crash, in Ambala. She moved on with her life to explore new opportunities and participated in nationwide talent search competition of ABCL Corp-Amitabh Bachchan Company. She was selected for Tere Mere Sapne and was groomed by Jaya Bachchan. In the year when Sushmita Sen & Rani Mukherji made their debuts, it was Priya who was being seen as the most promising newcomer.

But typical Punjabi Priya wanted to stick to her typical girl next door girl image which led to her being offered just a handful of roles. Even though she was a part of successful films like Sirf Tum & Josh, she could not make a mark in the Bollywood scene. That is when she moved to regional cinema and did a few films down south, and one cult Punjabi film. After a few appearances in Hindi films and one Bhojpuri film, she vanished from the screens.

Nearly 2-3 years ago, there were rumors of Jee Aayan Nu's sequel. But even if the makers want to take that story ahead, it will be difficult for them to trace Priya Gill today.

She might or might not be on social media platforms, and with so many Angel Priyas (koi hor naam rakhlo) out there on major social handles, it will be a task to find her.

Frankly, even we don't know much but the little that we do, we thought of sharing it with you guys. After not so good film offers, Priya got married and is now settled in Denmark. In 2015, she attended an OROP(One Rank One Pension) rally related to Ex-Army services in Mumbai. Then, around a year or two ago, a fan spotted her in Dubai. She was there with her husband.

Most recently, a bag store, Karl Backwell Creations's Owner, who happens to be a big Bollywood fan based in Nice (France), recognized her when she visited his store along with her husband. She updated about the same on her page.

So all her fans out there, she is happily married in South Carolina, Denmark.

By the way, she celebrated her 43rd birthday on December 9.
