Why is Salman-Karishma pair so underrated? - Page 3

@bold That's good to know! I thought I was the only one 😂 And yeah they would've been perfect together! They knew each other so well and would be much more compatible than their present partners 😑

They were paired in a lot of movies so don't really think they were ever underrated. He probably is one if the few she acted almost till she took her first partial retirement from movies. They can't be paired now coz 1) Salman moved on to current generation actors. 2) Karishma is not highly ambitious regards to movies. Maybe they can someday be paired in some webshow.

She was friendzoned by him so don't think they ever had anything going on. Also Abhishek and Karishma were together for 6 yrs before their formal engagement was announced and I have never heard of Salman eyeing someone else's girlfriend especially if that someone belongs to influential family.

@Bold Yeah I agree with what you're saying but you should read what I've said in the intro. I've explained why I think they are underrated.

Karishma's most iconic pair is with Govinda. Reason for that was she was the only one who could match his insane energy in dance. People remember her for that.

Salman's most iconic pair is with Aishwarya. Reason they both were the best looking ones from their generation and together they looked bomb. But what made their pair iconic was the longing of never ever getting to see them together. Their whirlwind romance and later the choatic ending kinda made it an amarprem and romanticized their pairing.

SRK-Kajol became iconic by being in the right films at the right time. Also Shahrukh's branding skills are unparalleled 😆

Hrithik-Kareena are extremely popular pair though their movies together were like literally shizz. They are remembered coz of how two people were starcrossed but could not meet. (all that is hogwash)

Deepika-Ranbir too got extremely popular because of the perceived starcrossed lover nonsense their PR projected after the break up. It got eclipsed when Deepika actually found a dream pair in her real life beau. They try to channel nargis-raj saga as Ranbir once said coz Raj-Nargis were forever popular though Sunil-Nargis were much loved. The quotes by all three are uncannily similar to the veterans too.

So all in all some pairs have an edge over others coz of projection. Karishma and Salman were always there for eachother as friends but never even projected the friendship. Koi marketing hi nahi kari apne bond ki. But industry pairing them in so many movies is testimony that they were never underrated. Undermarketed maybe but never underrated.

I think their other pairings kind of overshadowed in popularity . Like whenever I see Karishma, I mainly remember her movies with Govinda. While with Bhai, I mainly remember Aishwariya, Madhuri, Katrina etc. That's why it isn't remembered as fondly.

Also, all the actresses in the 90s and until recently had flower pot roles in films so I don't understand your point at all. About the brainless masala entertainers, it's not like SRK-Kajol were in great content films.

People still love Katrina-Akshay as a pair and were so happy to know that they are coming back together in Sooryavanshi so I don't understand that point either.

I know many people in real life who agree Karishma was one of the most if not the most overrated actress of the 90s. She is still overrated with people on ifey or those who were kids in the 90s and didn't observe her work with much attention. Her expressions were forced, she put the ham in hamming in most of her movies. Plenty agree she got the national award for nothing more than exposing her figure in DTPH. Many of these people who agree actually work in the industry. Many of the actresses who were given mostly flowerpot roles in the 90s had more potential than her and certainly far more natural and less forced on screen. Especially Raveena, Urmila to some extent even Shilpa. Karishma only natural/good performance till this day remains Zubeida.

DDLJ had better content than most Karishma-Salman movies. It was a clash of two different cultures and different types of thinking. Certainly needed more brains to enjoy than any of Salman-Karishma movies. Again Katrina and Akshay are commercial pair known for mostly brainless comedies. Even some of their films like Namstey London had better content than any Karishma-Salman movie. But again the movie they're coming back in? The director is known for making brainless comedies.

Again everyone is entitled to an opinion. And not all have to come to a consensus.
