Finally, the wait is over and Karan Singh Grover will be playing Mr. Bajaj in Ekta Kapoor's Kasautii Zindagii Kay airing on Star Plus. The show features Parth Samthaan as Anurag Basu and Erica Fernandes as Prerna Sharma. Recently, we got in touch with Karan and spoke to him about several aspects of the show. Below are the excerpts from the conversation that we had with him.
Starting up, finally, you are back on TV, there was a lot of builds up around who will play Mr. Bajaj, tell us about that?
I would say that build up was very intense and it was maintained for a very long time and that thing was very exciting. I knew that I was playing Mr. Bajaj since long . Ekta has a vision that we unfortunately incapable of understanding it. she makes only good decisions and there is nothing that you could do to better than to follow it.
As you said you knew that you are playing the character since a long time, so when a lot of other names came out be it Karan Wahi and many others, how would you react to that?
I knew that I was playing the character but when I used to read news about actors it was nice. Also to see that I am part of the league of gentlemen. It's nice to know that we are in the same league. When the actor names came used to come out for Mr. Bajaj, I used to read and react just saying awesome.
You had played the son-in-law in the previous version of the same show, and now Mr. Bajaj, tell us about that?
It's awesome that I played a certain role in the previous version of the story is also part of this story. Also, it is awesome that I am playing the character which is an iconic character of Television. Nobody will ever play or even touch the level Ronit plays Mr. Bajaj because he made it. But it feels great to be associated with both the version of the show.
Did you have any inputs in the look of the character?
I had three input in the character but It was rejected within a second. I felt like what it is but then I thought Ekta is someone who always does good.
Have you taken any traits from Ronit’s character?
Everyone knows what the character was Mr. Bajaj in the earlier version the only things this Mr. Bajaj is that have been added by the writer because they are brilliant and Ekta is also. The only thing I realized that we have taken from Ronit's Mr. Bajaj is that Salt Pepper look. I think its blessing also because there is one thing that we can take from an iconic character.
Was it planned to make a comeback with not only a tv show but also on the web, since you are doing a web show too?
I would love to say that I have planned but it's not true, I am incapable of making plans. The only thing I can plan is to get up in the morning and drink 1 litre of water. It is a plan that is made by a higher power called Ekta.
What was Bipasha’s reaction on seeing your look?
Bipasha actually when saw my look she said one thing which she very rarely says that I am looking Hot, which is very awesome. I am still regretting that I didn't record but I am happy.
