Not just India even West is obsessed with weddings. Everyone needs to get over it.

Was Mindy involved in scripting The Mindy Project or is this her debut as a writer? That was funny in bits n pieces.

I wonder who they will cast for the male lead.

Mindy wrote a lot of the episodes of The Office, that was her writing debut. The Mindy Project was written by her as well along with a couple other projects.

Who do u think will be cast as a male lead? Only 3 names comes to my mind - dev patel, kumail & Riz ahmed. But if they do end up casting a pakistani they might end up alienating right wing supporters .

Those three choices are terrible, lol. And I think Kumail and Riz are of Pakistani origin. Not gonna work.

And where are all the Indian hunks in Hollywood? Dev is cool, but he's nowhere close to an Indian male dreamboat that this project NEEDS!

Oh I completely agree with you. These mongs in the comment thread think Mindy and Pri will craft a generic love story, but they are undermining both women who have been involved in boundary-pushing projects with brown representation in the US.

And lol at people trashing on Crazy Rich Asian. You all thought it was generic? Fine. But also have the capacity to acknowledge the millions of dollar it made at the box office and what it did for East Asian rep in Hollywood. That's not NOTHING.

If you were expecting an Oscar-worthy masterpiece in Crazy Rich Asians that's your fault. It was always meant to be a light-hearted rom-com. Nothing more. And it delivered on its promise in spades.
