Why do South Indian movies have average looking actresses?

I know the trend is changing now since many beautiful actresses are now starring in South Indian movies but I am talking about the actresses like one in Arjun Reddy who was really average looking and had next to zero chemistry with Arjun.

What are you comparing them to? Our nasty looking actresses like Alia, Janhvi?

I find some of them to be very beautiful....

even actors too.

One thing is for sure though, most of them can definitely act better than Bollywood stars and even the scripts are better.

To be fair a lot of the heros are below average. And I like that the actresses are not over the top glamour like BW.

Personally I think South actresses look better. In North they are either too much botox/plastic surgery or too plain. Due to huge neoptisim in Bollywood currently, I think there is a decline in amazingly good looking woman as there once was, so instead of casting person seeing for example a stunning looking Waheeda Rehman and selecting her knowing see would look mesmerizing on screen, we now have girls like Ananya or Alia who aren't ugly, but aren't breathtaking as past actresses. Before there wasn't too much use of surgery and now there is which makes some actresses look, well, disturbing, as they tend to go overboard with it (i.e. Anushka and Katrina). The south also has "average looking* acctresses, but average in a relatable way, not trying to potray them as model but rather as "girl next door" which I think is very good. Over in North Average looking girls are touted as models and so they come off as just awkward.

Most Important point: I have also found that in North the trend over there has been for a long time that actresses must be really skinny/thin figured (Nothing wrong with being skinny/thin just saying that all major bollywood actresses are, there is no diversity). A curvy, full figured, averge weight southern women which is considered very attractive over there would be considered too fat in North industry, they would be told to lose weight and would be insulted, which I find really odd as I think they look perfectly fine and that line of thinking encourages eating disorders. I like how Southern actresses for the most part are more fuller/average weight in comparison. I think it helps girls see that size 0 isn't the only size to beautiful, other sizes are too, so helps with some girls body images.

They aren't average looking.
Its just that they aren't obsessed over being skinny.
I like how they try to maintain their weight with right amount of fat in appropriate parts.😳

I find actresses in South Indian movies are very beautiful compared to the bollywood counterparts and plus they can act too.

Plus I find the guys being average looking.

The girl in question is Shalini Pandey. She is very average looking while its right that BW actresses are skinny af but that doesn't mean average . looking actresses like in SI are fine.
