Drishti was shocked. She had noticed her sister was different since a few days but never could she have guessed the reason behind it . She never would imagine that she was possessed! That too by their worst enemy. The one who had killed their parents, hence orphaned both of them. Hadn't she seen Divya using Pisachini’s powers on Shikar, never she would have known the truth. Now she understood why her sister had been distant and had barely talked to her these past days.
She felt numb and it was as if her brain had taken control of her body without her knowledge. She walked towards her bedroom still lost in the thoughts and closed the door behind her. Without knowing how she reached here, she stood still, still thinking about her little sister. After a few minutes, she made her to the bathroom, obvious to her surrounding and locked herself inside.
Rakshit, who was on a phone call with Vinay, was sitting comfortably on the bed. He was startled when he heard the door slam. His head snapped towards and was confused when he saw his wife standing in front of it, motionless.
“Mrs Shergill.”
He tried to get her attention but she stayed there stiff, her gaze lost in the void.
“Oye Mrs Shergill. Is something wrong with your ears? I am talking to you. What happened?”
He thought she’d react to his taunts but to his surprise, she went to the bathroom without any reply. Worst than that, it seemed like she didn't even hear him.
“Vinay, you take care of this matter. I will call you later.”
Cutting the call, he got off the bed and made his way to the bathroom. “What has happened to her now? She does really seem to be in a foul mood.” He thought to himself.
“Mrs Shergill. What happened? Is everything okay?” he asked while knocking on the door, but his questions remained without answers. “Mrs Shergill! God can you give me a reply?! Are you dead in there?” he asked again annoyed but yet concerned.
Meanwhile in the bathroom, Drishti finally snapped out of her stillness and realized she was all alone in the bathroom. Switching on the shower, she allowed herself to finally breakdown. She sat under the water and let all tears come out. She was going through a lot of emotions. She was shocked her sister was possessed but she was all disappointed and angry. She had once again failed to protect her sister as she had once promised to her mother. They had just found each other after so many years apart and she had already lost her again. She wanted to break everything. Why was life was being cruel to her again? She took her head in her hands and cried her heart out. She screamed to let all her frustrations out.
Rakshit, hearing her screams from the other side of the door, decided to go in, fearing something bad happened. He tried opening the door but realized that she had locked it. He sighed with frustration.
"Mrs Shergill! What's happening? Open the door."
Realizing she wouldn't open it, he shoved the door with his shoulder, breaking the lock in process. What he saw, broke his heart to pieces. His wife was sitting in the shower, under the water and she was crying her heart out. He rushed to her, not caring if he got wet.
"Mrs Shergill. Are you crazy? Why are you sitting like this under the water?" he asked, crouching to face her.
Drishti looked at him as if finally noticing his presence and cried harder.
"Drishti. Tell me. Why are you crying?" he asked yet again, hold her shoulders.
She shook his head, being unable to talk but still held on to him.
"Okay fine. Mrs Shergill you and your secrets. You won't tell me and okay I will not force you. You will tell me yourself when you are ready." he said while getting up and switching off the water. " But that doesn't mean I'll let you sit in here like this. You will catch a pneumonia at this rate. Come on, get up."
He helped her out of the shower booth and held her close. He could feel her shivering and instead of leading her to the room, he grabbed her by the waist and hauled her the counter. Taking a towel, he got closer to her and started drying her hair. She was still crying and his heart twinged and he decided to ignore it.
"Drishti." he said her named softly and she looked at him with tears stricken eyes. "I know you have your own problems, that you won't share with me. I don't understand why but I respect your choice. Whatever it is, it will be fine. I know that it must a serious matter for you to be shaken like this, but I also know you are strong and that you will overcome it. Whatever it is, whatever happens, just know that you are not alone. I will always be here for you. I know you may think otherwise, but i will always support you, no matter what. Now stop crying and compose yourself. If you keep on like this, you won't be able to solve the problem right?"
Despite being shaken, Drishti was amazed by his words. She never expected him to say those words to her, not when the relationship was like a rollercoaster. Without thinking, she launched herself on him and hugged him tightly as if her life depended on it. Rakshit reciprocated the hug, caressing her back to comfort her.
It took Drishti a while to pull herself together and realize what position she was in. Even though she didn't want to let go of him, her body reacted otherwise and tensed slightly, which Rakshit didn't miss. Slowly, he untangled himself from her and held her by the chin to make her look at him.
"Feeling better now?" he asked gently and he earned a nod in return. "You speak so much usually and now you aren't even uttering a single." he taunted to no use. He sighed and grabbed her by the waist to drag her down the counter. "You should change or you'll get sick. You change in the room while I cleaned up this mess here."
She nodded and headed to the room.
"You should change too. You are also wet and you might get sick too." she told him before going to the room to change.
Rakshit smiled to himself. He knew his wife cared for him a lot but she was always saying otherwise. It was only situations like this which brought out jer care towards him. He wiped all the water on the floor and proceeded to change his clothes.
Drishti on the other side, was still in a daze state. Rakshit's words kept echoing in her head and it warmed her in this nightmare she was facing. She has always been amazed how he stood by her side no matter what, even after what she did regarding their marriage. Behind the closed door of their bedroom, he may taunt her or get angry at her, but he always defended her in front of his family, specially his mom who was angry at her for her betrayal. It was one of the rare time he comforted her and she knew his words were genuine. She could see his care through his eyes everytime something bad happened to her but still she kept on pushing him away. When her heart believed him and knew he could do her nor her sister no harm, why didn't her mind agree? A sneeze snatched her from her thoughts and realized she was shivering due to the wet clothes. She had only put on her kameez when she knocked off a vase inadvertently, making it crash loudly on the floor.
Rakshit rushed out of the bathroom, fearing something happened to her and reached her a jifty.
"Mrs Shergill! Now what happened? Aren't you feeling well?" he asked, really concerned.
"No Mr Shergill. I am fine. The vase fell down. I didn't do it on purpose. I just …" Drishti started, but her words was caught up in her throat when she realized that her husband was standing in front of her in pants only. She couldn't help but stare at his muscular body but she soon snapped back to her senses, when she remembered she had only her kameez on.
"Mr Shergill ! What are you doing here?! Can't you see I am still changing?! Why did you barge in without knocking? How can you burst onto a woman changing? And why do you always roam around half naked?! How shameless you are!" she blurted out without thinking.
Rakshit was amused by his wife, but he was also glad her mind was now occupied by something else and she was back on her bickering mode.
"Mrs Shergill. I came in only because I heard the noise and you aredress right now." he said while rolling his eyes."Unfortunately." he muttered."And maybe you have forgotten but it is my room too. Who is in right mind will knock on the door to come to his bedroom from the bathroom? Plus, I don't roam around half naked Mrs Shergill. You are the one who always find a way tosee me not fully dressed." he retorted, taking a step toward her.
" What?! I...I don't do it on purpose okay. You are always here without a shirt so how can I not see? I am not blind, not to appreciate a nice body when I see one." she blurted out, too overwhelmed to realize what she said.
"Oh. So I do look nice to you, Mrs Shergill?" Rakshit asked, taking another step towards her.
Registering what she said, Drishti looked at him with wide eyes and blushed, while Rakshit was enjoying seeing her in this predicament.
"N..N..No. That's Not what i meant. Don't come nearer Mr Shergill. You are barefoot and you will get hurt." she said to divert the topic.
"What if I want to?"
Drishti was taken aback by his boldness and took a step back away from him.
"You want to get hurt?"
Rakshit decreased the distance between them, stood close to her and said with a husky voice.
"No. What if I want to come nearer, Mrs Shergill?"
Rakshit could see she was disconcerted. Taking advantage of her weak state, was never his intentions. But he knew that the game of cat and mouse between them had lasted long enough, and it was time for someone to take the matter in hand.
Drishti was stunned. What has gotten into him? Why was he behaving like this?
She put her hand on his chest to keep him from getting closer but the spark she felt, paralysed her and couldn't help but stare back at him.
Rakshit took the opportunity to hold back the hand on his chest and put back a lock of hair behind her ear.
"Mr Shergill, I …"
"Rakshit."
The slamming of the door and the voice took them by surprise and they both jumped at the sound. Rakshit was annoyed to be disturbed and they both looked in the concerned direction to see who it was. They were both astounded to see his mother and Lavanya in their room looking at them with wide eyes. One stunned and the other with disgust.
Drishti was embarrassed to be caught in such a position by his mother and proceeded to remove her hand and get away from him but was bemused when he tightened his hold.
"Mom. What brings you here?"
"Beta, I needed to talk to you about something important." Mahima said, feeling embarrassed.
"You should have asked for me and I would have come. Why come here so suddenly like this in our bedroom? That too without knocking?!" Rakshit asked her.
He was frustrated at his mother for barging into their bedroom like this that too with Lavanya tagging along. Normally he wouldn't have cared for it, but right now he could feel Drishti's uneasiness and it irritated him. He kept on holding her hand to comfort her but he knew it was of no use.
"Rakshit! We really need to talk to you. It is very important." Lavanya interfered tearfully. "Why are you wasting your time here withher? And you Miss PA? How can you be so shameless? How can you roam half naked into a man's room like this?" she spat at Drishti.
Both of them were shocked at her words. They looked at each other and then stared at her. They couldn't believe the nerves of this woman.
Rakshit pinched the bridge of his nose. He was pissed his mother seemed to agree with her. He took a deep breath and started at her. "Lavanya. How many should I tell you that it is Mrs..", but he was cut by Drishti who had stiffened by his side.
"Mrs Rakshit Shergill." she said out loud clearly.
One could have heard a pin drop in the room as everyone turned to look at her fixedly.
"Excuse me??" Lavanya sneered at her.
"You heard me." Drishti snapped while leaving Rakshit's hand and headed to the bed. " I am not Miss PA anymore. It is either Mrs Shergill or Mrs PA. You choose." She grabbed a shirt from the bed and then handed it to her husband. "You. Wear this." she said authoritatively.
To say Rakshit was shocked, was an understatement. He didn't expect her to be in this attack mode but it pleased him. He was finally sure she cared for him and by her actions now, she was also jealous. He chuckled, making him earn a glare from her.
"Drishti.."
"Lavanya, Drishti wasn't among the choices I gave you. Also for your information, this is my room, in which you came announced and Rakshit isn't any random man, but my man. I don't see what is shameless about it when I am in my room with my husband!"
Drishti was exhausted. She was already on the edge concerning her sister's situation and Lavanya's words were the straw that broke the camel's back. She needed a scapegoat to let off the steam and Lavanya was the goat she was ready to slaughter. She was still had some of her mind to tell her but she was interrupted by Mahima. That's when she realized she had totally forgotten about her presence in the room.
"Rakshit beta. You are right. I am really sorry to have come in like this without knocking. It is all my fault. Please come see me when you're free. We need to discuss. Lavanya let's go."
Mahima talked directly to his son, completely ignoring Drishti and exited the room. Lavanya stamped her foot and had no other choice than to leave too.
Drishti stood rooted to where she was stood and processed whatever just happened. She felt bad Mahima had just ignored her, as if she was invisible to her.
"Mrs Shergill." She jumped because she had not heard him approach. "I thought I am shameless for running into you while you were changing." he said hoarsely.
"Uhh?!" she asked in a daze.
"You heard me." he used back her reply. " But just right now you said it wasn't shameless at all as I was your man." he said with a smirk.
"I.. I..didn't..I need to get dressed." she retorted in order to avoid the subject and pushed him . She knew it was of no use to deny as he had clearly heard what she said. There was no way she could make any excuses about it.
She had barely made two steps, that he held her hand and pulled him towards him, her back slamming to his chest.
"It is nice, Mrs Shergill. To see that you're jealous."
"I wasn't jealous. I was just …"
"Of course you were not jealous at all." he said leaving her and heading towards the door. "You were just annoyed someone else was enjoying my half nakedness as it is, what was it again? Ah yes. My nice body foryou only to appreciate ."
Drishti was appalled and gaped at him with an open mind, but before she could retort something, he cut her again.
"Save it. No need to come up with a lame excuse. You can continue to get dressed, I'll go see what mom needs to talk about. Oh and please, lock the door behind me, for I wouldn't want someone to barge in on you while you are half naked now." he smirked and winked at her. He then closed the door behind him.
Drishti who still couldn't believe her ears, rushed towards the door to lock it and she smiled when he heard him chuckle on the other side at the sound of the lock.
