Happy to see that you've started this new story. And 'Withered' has me hooked already. The story having the political background has gotten me intrigued cause there's a lot that goes on back there and I can't wait for you to reveal this story layer by layer.

Arnav and Khushi in this story are completely different from your other stories that I've read before. Their odd relationship is something that is interesting because Khushi here seems to be a very withdrawn person while Arnav is the expressive one. But I do feel he expresses only what he wishes to be known. Being into politics, he does have to show that everything around him is all rosy.

From this chapter I feel that he does love Khushi but he has a past that isn't very known to all. And then again 'Old habits die hard'.

Khushi... Right now all I can say is that she feels lost. My thoughts are exactly what Arnav feels about her... She doesn't belong to his world. I guess she feels intimidated with everything happening around her. It doesn't seem like she has many friends to share her feelings with. Also she doesn't seem to be the type of person to burden others with all her worries.

Reasons: Lemme state with what I have understood so far -

1. Prologue - During the moment of unison as couple, Khushi is emotionally detached - Infact she convinced herself that her husband's declaration of love is just habitual - Khushi believes her mind which says the intimacy is out of intoxication and shuts her eyes along with her heart!

2. Chaper 1 - Khushi puts up a mask of 'Wife' - She acts to keep up the mask - Her heart pines for her family - She feels/knew that she never had a say - She confirms her husband who doesn't really love her and wouldn't understand her - Her mind wins thinking this was all a deal!

3. Chapter 2 - We saw how Arnav slowly and steadily fell in love with Khushi - Arnav's bad reputation did not help him when he proposed which shows Khushi neither know anything about Arnav's love nor does she take any step to find out from her husband - She admits Arnav loves her in his own away (not her way) - His charm made her give into the physical need he arouse within her - They can never love with each other as their notion of love is different!

Conclusion: According to Khushi, she was selected for a role for WIFE of Arnav - She thinks Arnav's definition of love is different from her - She is nothing but a passing affair to him - They are never meant to be given to their difference in principles and life - His love (interest in her) will fade away soon! - Nothing even the marriage or his interest not enough for her keep up with facade!!!!

HENCE, SHE DOESN'T LOVE ARNAV moresay NOT YET.

You are making perfect sense.

She is gloomy cos she doesnt have a reason to be happy. She has a life and live, but she hasnt realised it yet.

When N had posted the Curtain Raiser with the prologues, Withered won by a large margin, and P and I were left wondering as to why people didnt pick WI. But boy, they were right.

And from that time, the story and prologue both seem to have changed. N's writing has surpassed everything in Withered.

She is not unaffected by his charms and is an equal participant in the love making. She may not have realized it yet, but it does look like she's on the road to falling in love with Arnav. If not anything, her jealousy is a telltale sign of feeling "something" for him. But she is holding back. That's for sure. And I strongly feel it's not just because of his image. She is convinced that this relation has an expiry date. And I see two reasons for her feeling so -

1) Arnav's playboy image, obviously. She thinks Arnav is not capable of monogamy. She doesn't doubt his love for her at the moment, but feels that sooner or later it will die off.

2) This one is a long shot, but like I said in my previous comments, I feel she is just a pawn in the larger scheme of things. She has been meticulously placed in Arnav's life for their own selfish benefits. Khushi feels sorry that Arnav thinks he loves her, probably because she knows that once the cards are open, she will be a major reason for his broken heart.

I also have a theory that it's not Manohar who has placed her in Arnav's path. He may be the reason for Arnav bumping into her, but no where it was mentioned that Manohar convinced/forced her to marry. It was all speculations.

I have a feeling it could be Shyam or Payal's Mom

Khushi clearly says that she caught Arnav eyes and she was made Arnav's wife by Manohar - because she is the most trust worthy junior and she couldn't refute because of indebtedness she felt to Manohar!

I also noted that Arnav says that she rejected his proposal and wonders what made her concede to the marriage - so there is more to it, not just Manohar but something else..

Adding onto where you ended Aishu.

Arnav was saying that she wasnt interested in him or his image, let alone proposal. But he says, he thanks Manohar for bringing Khushi in his life

I really dont think there is anything more. There can be a past btw
