I was talking in comparison to RaGa. Sachin,Scindia, Deora all are part of dynastic politics but atleast they have capability of taking responsibilities more than RaGa who neither has a personality nor is grown enough to be the president of his party, let alone the PM of the country. I don't see any outsider coming over to Congress in the near future. It is going to be among the nepo kids only so why don't they choose someone who is better than Raga to be a face of the party? I feel the distrust people have on the current congress will come down if it's someone else than RaGa.
@bold- But that's true for every party right? People still support their favourite despite their wrongdoings or involvement of scams. I don't think people care about that much. Otherwise someone like Pragya Thakur wouldn't have been leading now.
Congress might have deeper problems but I strongly feel the country's disapproval of the party is because of RaGa more than anything else.
Bit of a rant here. So I apologize.
I thought you meant RaGa should be replaced by Scindia or Pilot. Yes RaGa is why people are unwilling to vote for Congress. He symbolises what people hate about Congress. The elitism, the nepotism. Replacing RaGa with more scions would not solve anything. Mocking Modi for being a Chaiwala or Chowkidaar is the problem. Poor people see it as a mockery of themselves. It's similar to how Sibbal and company used to mock the protestors. I think Sibbal said something like remove us in 2014 elections if you think we are so bad, but right know we are the MPs or whatever. It's that elitism that is partially responsible for Congress's disconnect. And they need to radically change for that. I don't see that happening and sadly, if it doesn't, we will only have a weak opposition.
Somebody like Pragya Thakur should have never been allowed in elections. I guess they thought someone as ridiculous as her could play off someone like Digvijay Singh. But it's a stupid decision. But yes, she wins because people vote for Modi or against Congress.
I think in the end, the urban section votes for Modi because of the lack of choice. If not Modi, who.
Why the rural section votes for Modi. That's something that needs to be explored. And I really think that has nothing to do with the Hindu-Muslim, Caste Politics the politicians in both BJP and Congress like to play. Otherwise the minorities would not have come out and voted for him. I remember from my trip for Kumbh in early February, I thought plastering Modi's face around was quite ridiculous and vain. But the auto-walas and street vendors and local police, would unforced talk about how much Modi has done for them in terms of infrastructural and social development. Things that I take for granted, they had just started recieving. That is why I think Modi got this wave. Not because of economics or politics, because of what tangible things he has given to the masses.
