It was Randeep Hooda who was the first choice to play Kapil Dev, before Ranveer Singh was taken on board for the film...

After giving a spectacular performance in Rohit Shetty's Simmba, a film that reaped gold at the Box office, actor Ranveer Singh is currently gearing up for his first biopic film, titled '83.

In the film, that revolves around the historical victory of Indian team at the 1983 world cup, Ranveer will be seen playing the role of former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev in the film.

But, little did we know that Ranveer was not the first choice for the film, instead it was Randeep Hooda who was first offered the role.

Close sources have revealed, "Randeep was offered the role of Kapil Dev when the film was to be directed by Sanjay Pooran Singh. This was formally announced and the look test was done too.

But due to some circumstances, the project went into the hands of Kabir Khan and Ranveer bagged the role."

On the other hand, Randeep will now be seen in love Aaj Kal 2, starring Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan which is slated to release on 14th Feb 2020.
