Money making or Creativity ...what motivates

I have always wondered

what do you think motivates these producers and production companies, do you think they are genuinely interested in creativity and creative excellence or money making is their first priority.

what about actors, do you think the roles excite them or the movie as a whole excite them. For example, an actor may sign a movie coz of the big production house and the biggest director even though the role offered is nothing in terms of creativity and scope as an actor.

I know money is important for Bollywood

But I want to understand what goes in their mind when they decide to go ahead with a movie , do they look for their potential profits or do they look for creative excellence and scope in it .

Same way for audience, do you really go to watch a movie based on the lead actor or actress or the first thing you look for story and the plot interests you irrespective of the actor in it.

When I see the social media, I see fans literally begging the audience to watch the said actors movie only and only coz the actor starred in it, how do you look at it? is that how you look at movies??

Also like in west, when people go to a James Cameron movie or a Christopher Nolan movie coz for them , they are the main attraction to watch the movie, same way, does the director even matter in Bollywood to you as a viewer?????

Producers have so much at stake

a big flop can make them lose their biggest assets

I think creativity motivates them

For actors money may motivate them initially but after some years creativity is needed to sustain unless they do flowerpot roles

Story is important for me but actors are also important some actors I would never watch their movie in the cinema. Deepika is my favourite I would probably watch her movie even if story looks half decent

I guess there are 3 categories: One who makes movie for their passion for art and creativity, one for making more and more money and the last category who balances both as in makes commercial movie, earns loads of money and then uses it to make creative cinema

I feel same for actors too :)

and I definitely prefer story over actors. I prefer watching Aamir,Akshay and Ajay's movies but if story aint gud, I dont watch for them also. Likewise, there are certain actors whose movies I never watch even if story is gud just cos they repel me :P
