The Big Move
Noted filmmaker Dharmesh Darshan has found reason to believe that popular television actors make for good film stars.
Darshan, who made hits like Raja Hindustani and Dhadkan has just signed telly stars
Sangeeta Ghosh,
Eijaz Khan, Manav Gohil and Shweta Salve for his upcoming film Bhanvraa.
Others like Aamna Sharif popularly known as Kashish from Star Plus' Kaahin To Hoga is also set to play the lead in Robbie Grewal's Aloo Chaat opposite
Aftab Shivdasani. Sanjay Gupta's Shootout At Lokhandwala gave Shabbir Ahluwalia his big break after his popularity wave with soaps like Kaahin To Hoga and Kayamath.
The fact is, filmfolk have always been prejudiced against TV actors and that they lacked the star appeal. But there have been exceptions. Bollywood's No. 1 star Shah Rukh Khan is a shining example. But beyond the realm of King Khan's glamorous achievement, there is a whole bunch of other actors who have made their presence felt in a much quieter manner.

But, whatever be the reasons behind actors migrating to the bigger league, it always gives them a chance to hit it big.
"For a TV actor to make it big in the world of films he needs a fair share of luck and some unbound grit and determination," said Ekta Kapoor as did others like Sajid Khan, Kunal Kohli and others. The bottomline is TV actors have inspiration from the likes of SRK and Irrfan Khan and there are no prizes for guessing that despite all the criticism they will keep shooting for success on the big screen.
