I am not surprised that you got carried away, πŸ˜‰ but it was to good purpose.
I have just one problem with it. Darcy "very selfish"? Yes, he says that about himself, but then he is deliberately judging himself harshly while boosting Elizabeth sky high, for obvious reasons!πŸ˜‰

thanks sammy, yes he's very human and no epitome of perfection, the only good thing in Gul shows that the Male leads or parallel , are always many layered and have their flaws and not predictable at all, but female leads are very predictable poor girl and doormats and vamps are really smart but also predictable.

The ML are always grateful to their ladylove for being Elizabeth bennet of their lives because they themselves are very"selfish beings all their life like Mr.Darcy" but then even Elizabeth bennet was not perfect and was prejudiced and Gul heroines are perfectly doormats because they are perfect epitome of humanity and are always too good for this harsh world, as if they have no identity of their own they are just like ML's heart of gold that beats in FL's heart, so in the end all actions of male leads are justified aray bhai jesa bhi hai but dil toh gold hai πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†aur woh bhi FL kay paas haiπŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

the second paragraph was a bit off topic but couldn't help myself.πŸ˜†

@shyamalaaunty: reasons are obvious enough but the way he proposed to her first, if not harsh but was very crude and offending, so to some extent darcy judging himself harshly does make sense, even EB told him he has deprived her from being feeling sorry for him for refusing his proposal because he proposed her indecently not just offending her but offending his own character in the process.

Yes, my dear, but that is arrogance, of which he has plenty, not selfishness.

Never mind, it is great fun to have someone here who can talk Austen! The very clever thing about the title of that classic is that it can be applied to both Darcy and Elizabeth.

Btw, who is this oft-mentioned Gul? A producer?

One more point that slipped my aged mind.
Do try and get hold of Death comes to Pemberley, by the very famous mystery writer, the late PD James. It is a murder mystery, an Austen pastiche written in her style, and is excellent.

I understand that the BBC made a 3 season TV series of the book, but I haven't been able to watch it.

@shyamalaaunty: yes I know about death comes to Pymberly, but it has zombies in it I believe, my favorite so far is that 6 episode P&P mini series, the best ever adaptation so far!!!!
As for my line about Darcy being selfish, it was said by Mr.Darcy himself in the mini series by collin firth, so I wasn't actually calling Darcy selfish I was discussing it in the light of what was said by himself.

Gul khan is the producer of 4lions productions , she loves force marriages, doormat heroines and many layered male leads and parallel leads.

You are thinking of something else,my dear. Death comes to Pemberley.by PD James doesn't have any zombies! It is a straightforward murder mystery beginning in 1803, 6 years after the marriage of Elizabeth and Darcy.

I don't like pastiches of any classic writer in general, but there are exceptions, and this is one. You could try it. NO zombies! πŸ˜‰

I remember telling you in an earlier post about the 1995 six part TV version of Pride and Prejudice. That is still the best adaptation, as you too.feel, and Colin Firth's Darcy is the gold standard. They issued a 10th anniversary DVD special edition in 2005, and I have that. I must have watched it 5 times by now!

Yes, Darcy does say that about himself as a boy and a young man, that he was taught good principles but left to follow them in pride and conceit (I don't remember the lines accurately). So for you to cite his reference to himself is quite accurate.

Gul Khan is a woman, is she! It is interesting that it is her women characters who are doormats. With Ekta Kapoor, it is the men!πŸ˜†
