Lately the more I am seeing Durga's kands, she is reminding me increasingly of Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter series. We potterheads all over the world have different views on different points of the stories but there is one thing where we all agree upon. All of us hate Umbridge more than Lord Voldemort.
She would make my skin crawl. I remember once while in hall, I was literally shaking in anger while reading "Order of Phoenix" & my roommate with whom I had an argument hours ago & didn't talk to since, noticed it. She came, handed me water & told me to take a break for sometime. 😆
Here are some of the parallels I could draw :
After entering Hogwarts Umbridge's sole purpose was to convince everyone that, Harry is a liar. Durga's sole purpose since Guddu's entry in Jindal bhavan became to prove her useless & unworthy of being a Jindal.
Umbridge permanently scarred Harry for lifetime on back of his hand by making him write "I must not tell lies" with a blood quill (whatever the user wrote with it used their own blood as ink and sliced the words into their flesh, eventually leaving his hand permanently scarred ).
Durga wrote, "tumse na ho payega" on guddu's hand with mehendi. She made Guddu write down her mistake. She reminded Guddu of being responsible for her mom's death during khichdi competition.
Umbridge disrespected all of the professors in Hogwarts by interrogating them in middle of their ongoing classes & interrupting their teaching session. We know how Durga keeps interfering in her saas-sasur's husband-wife issues.
Umbridge was a bully like Durga.
Umbridge used truth serum on students in no prescribed dose while interrogating them & then attempted to use Cruciatus Curse better known as torture curse ( one of the three unforgivable curses that inflicts intense, excruciating pain on the victim & can also drive one to insanity ) on underage students.
Durga is changing the medicine of a mentally disturbed patient & playing with his mental health.
Umbridge was phobic of beings that were not quite, or wholly human i.e. half-giants or centaurs. She is an immensely controlling person, and all who challenge her authority and world-view must, in her opinion, be punished.
Durga is phobic of any changes in rules & regulation of Jindal bhavan.
Umbridge used to detest muggle-borns (witch/wizards born from non-magical parents) & held trials for supposedly "stealing" magic from "real" witch & wizards.
We know the basis of Durga's immense hatred for Guddu is Guddu's record of mistakes that makes her see Guddu as useless & good for nothing. Hence she tries to make AJ held a trial against Guddu at every chance she gets.
Umbridge did all she did naming it enforcing law under the ministry of magic even by stepping out of laws.
Durga is doing all she is doing naming it for the greater good of the family even by breaking many of the family's ideologies.
Here is one reason why Umbridge never got married:-
In spite of her best efforts to secure the affections of one of her superiors (she never cared particularly which of them it was, but knew that her own status and security would be advanced with a powerful husband), Dolores never succeeded in marrying. While they valued her hard work and ambition, those who got to know her best found it difficult to like her very much. After a glass of sweet sherry, Dolores was always prone to spout very uncharitable views, and even those who were anti-Muggle found themselves shocked by some of Dolores's suggestions, behind closed doors, of the treatment that the non-magical community deserved.
After this all I can say is, Poor Kishore !
