After watching today's episode, I wonder if Silsila season 2 might not be so bad after all. Initially, when I heard the news of season 2, I was wondering if it was even needed after season 1's mess and hoped it wouldn't materalise.
After today's episode and quite a reasonable number of scenes pre- and post- leap, I have more hope for season 2. Gajra can write and she can create complex characters. I wonder whether the show would have been much more better if the channel hadn't interfered like Shakti had mentioned in his interview. That being said, the blame still goes to Gajra for not coping with the TRP demands of ITV and writing nonsense at many moments. Yet, I can still see moments of brilliance in Silsila. She gave such complex characters, which is outside the bounds of ITV. She extracted the best of Shakti and Aditi; before this, most of us didn't know Aditi. Now, everyone knows her for the talented actress she is. For Shakti, my impression was that he is an average actor. But he proved his talent through Silsila.Having said all of this, season 2 is Gajra's chance to redeem herself. Now, there's no channel or TRP interferance. And I can visualise a lot of potential in Mishti's and Pari's characters. Both their characters come with a lot of emotional baggage. Mishti with possible abandonment issues (due to Kunal) contributing to problems in her relationship with her partner (self- doubts if her partner would ever cheat on her). And Pari having to deal with the societal stigma associated with her parents' relationship. All in all, I hope Gajra gives the audience a good Season 2 with complex characters and a brilliant plot rather than some ITV cliche like 2 half-sisters competing for a guy.
