"People" are not just calling it a FLOP. It IS a FLOP. The movie was made on a 125cr budget...It took about 18 mos (think of salary of techs alone) for it to be released, I am being kind and including the cost of the extra time frame/re-shoots/extra actors salary/promotions (still going on) etc.. in that 125. Then there is distribution cost/security/tax per ticket/foot fall all determined after, to that add that the box office amount is split 50/50 with venue first 7 days then 60/40 next 7 days then 70/30 and so on...you add the box office global plus stream rights and music rights to your domestic box office collection but you minus all the above mentioned costs and that is your final figure split 3 ways because there are 3 producers or however many. Manikarnika should be barely recuperating all costs back by a narrow margin but won't be making a huge profit for anyone. In order to be called a hit it needed to make 175cr cr at the domestic BO (I am keeping it low to be extra kind). If anyone tells you otherwise they are just blowing hot air at you.
p.s. the global BO figure is being inflated by a lot, but that it's a fools game that only enhances actors ego, because in the bottom line where the $$$ counts (and it does)
it is just empty numbers. India needs to start taxing producers by the figures they claim they got abroad...
