Today's episode was an episode of realisation. Realising the pain, grief, sorrow that had been hidden under one's heart for a long time. Babita cries and cries out loud helplessly.
The episode begins with Babita sitting on her bed, her husband's words echoing in her ears. Mini upon seeing her mother all quiet, at once comes to console her. She hugs her from the back and moves her like a child with her legs kept on both sides of her mother's back, the same way a mother treats her child.
She explains to her mother but her explaining is of no use to a sad Babita. She consoles her saying that everything is all right, yet even she knows that she is not speaking the truth.
In between the moving and consoling, Babita lets it out. She lets her haunting cry out. She mourns the pain she had hidden in her heart all this while. She cries her heart out.
Mini too lets a tear fall out of her eye. She had now been expecting this for a while and is henceforth neither surprised nor taken aback instead strengthens the grip over her mother's body in the same manner a mother reacts when her baby cries.
Meanwhile Hanuman Singh, her faithful friend Laale as he calls him, and Naeem Bee were too waiting for this. Upon hearing this both Naeem Bee and Laale blame Ashok, claiming that it was after the birth of a hundred monsters that someone like Ashok was born. Though Hanuman Singh is strongly against this idea.
As Babita's mourn echoes in the room downstairs, Hanuman Singh makes Naeem bee and Laale remember their ugly past. A past with men who did wrong with their women, a past filled with men like Ashok. He says that all men are the same. They all have a monster, an untrained animal inside themselves. Yes, you people gotta believe it when a man says this.
What reflects the most in his speech, is the fact that all of us have somewhere been victims of the pain conflicted by some man or the other. He silently makes everyone understand that just the way Ashok defamed Babita's feminity, her womanhood, even Babita could have defamed his masculinity, his 'mardaangi' but she didn't. While men tend to treat women only like a ''body', women are taught to be silent listeners of their man's nonsense.
Back at Ashok's home, he recollects his daughter's scream, his mother's slap, his girlfriend's refusal to talk to him. He analysis the lives of all the women, he has destroyed because of his greed.
Later at night when Mini goes to the kitchen to fetch herself water, Hanuman Singh comes to her aid. She then pours her heart out to him, something she could not do to her mother. She worries that Babes, who was transforming slowly, had broken down into pieces once again.
Hanuman Singh upon noticing Babita eavesdropping their conversation, hits two birds with one stone. He explains to Mini that in this field of life, her Babes had to fight for herself alone, something Mini unintentionally does not let Babita do whereas silently preaches Babita that the ball is in her court now. She has to fight for herself and her daughter, alone because at the end of the day she has to face the battlefield on her own without anyone else.
If Babita losses, even Mini losses.
But if Babita wins, a mentor will have the joy of a lifetime.
P.S. I wrote this post really quickly so it's a total mess. 🥱
