"Then who is Mehek?", Rajeev uttered in shock. Vivaan was quick to cover him to avoid suspicion to fall on them, "He meant the girl who went missing. You had send message to all packs to find her". "Oh, Mehek", he moved his head disapprovingly, "She is my daughter but unfortunately born on other side of blanket", he tried to add dry humour, "She was born from a human mother who is not my mate. Mehek is just a human I had sired. She is ignorant about our world and extremely naive". Shaurya balled his fists perceiving DK's negligence and disrespect towards his own blood. "You seemed to be least bothered about her disappearance", Vivaan taunted him. "Ofcourse I am worried", he protested vehemently," else I wouldn't have announced a huge reward to find her. But an illegitimate daughter is not as significant as today's ceremony", he grinned wickedly, "Poor girl, I summoned her just few days back so that sisters could spend some quality time before Nehal moved to her new pack. Alas, she was in wrong place at wrong time". Shaurya had a hard time to rein his anger. DK had tricked him. But what mattered most was Mehek's innocence. He punished his mate for a crime she didn't commit. "I am sorry but we have to leave now", he tried to excuse himself without any commotion. "Ofcourse, Alpha Shaurya. Thanks again for coming", DK faked his gratitude. As DK watched them leave in haste, he heard a firm yet sad voice behind, "Father".

DK quickly brought Nehal to one of the empty rooms. "Father, where is Mehek? What happened to her? You lied to me that she was send back to Meera Ma". "Nehal relax. Let me explain", he tried to calm her. "I need to see her NOW", she yelled at her father. "Silence", he scolded her and pinched bridge of his nose in frustration. "Mehek got kidnapped from her birthday party. She may have been mistaken as you", he told her. Nehal let out a faint cry. "You used her", she trembled in anger, "You used your own blood for your advantage. She was just a pawn for you". "Yes, I agree. She was a decoy to distract my enemies and protect you", he accepted. She grabbed lapels of his expensive suit and shook him, "How could you do it to Mehek? She is a powerless human. You are heartless to put her life in risk". DK pushed her away and raised his hand to slap her but stopped midway. "Go back to the party and act like a good girl. Else it won't be good for any", he threatened. Nehal sobbed but quickly composed herself and got up to leave but halted when DK spoke again. "Nehal, Don't worry about Mehek. She will be alright. Harming a meek human will never bring any good. Once they realize they got wrong daughter, they will leave her unscratched", he tried to appease his daughter. She kept a poker face and mocked him, "Seems like you are trying hard to convince yourself than me".

"Vivaan, drive faster", Shaurya ordered his Beta. Vivaan didn't protest but obeyed immediately. "Would you care to explain ?", Rajeev was puzzled. "We need to find, Mehek", Shaurya managed to convey. He tried to communicate with his wolf. His believed his wolf could track Mehek faster using their mate bond. But hid wolf refused to respond and remained mum. "what did you do to her, Shaurya?", Rajeev raised his voice. Despite being his close friend and third in command, Rajeev couldn't contain his anger since he hated men who abused women. Shaurya brushed aside his rude attitude. "Rajeev, what are the aftermaths of rejection?", he asked his gamma who was an expert in culture and traditions of werewolves. "Heartbreak, Mental Agony, Physical Pain and may be Depression until you learn to cope with it", he answered quickly but was still perplexed. "What if the mate is...is...is a human?", Shaurya asked anxiously. "Humans are weaker compared to us. So consequences could be severe. It could lead to even death if no dealt quickly", Rajeev answered restlessly, "Why are you suddenly interested in these things?". But quickly he realised the logic and turned to Vivaan. They both asked together, "Is Mehek your mate?". Shaurya nodded. "You didn't , did you?", Vivaan snapped at him. Shaurya looked down ashamed unable to answer them. Rajeev pounced from his seat to punch him but Vivaan stopped him, "Rajeev, relax. Our focus should be to save Mehek". "Take her name respectfully. She is my mate and your Luna", Shaurya growled possessively despite the situation. "You should have taken the pain to lead us by example, Alpha", Rajeev taunted him. Guilt pricked him and he was unable to give back to his own men.

"Relax Man. Now Mission Damage control", Vivaan spoke while driving faster, "Rajeev what needs to be done?". "We have to find her quickly. Then Shaurya has to take back his rejection", he glanced at his watch, "I hope we are not delayed. Each second is critical for her". Rajeev already mind linked their pack doctor to make arrangements at Alpha's house. Vivaan managed to reach the spot where Shaurya had left Mehek. They jumped out of the vehicle and looked around but was unable to find her. "Split and Search", Shaurya ordered. He expected Mehek to have used the path to reach nearby human population. Yet he was unable to track her scent towards the village. His wolf was getting agitated, scaring him with thought that Mehek would have lost herself in the woods. 'Help me to find her', he begged his wolf. Though still furious at him , his wolf agreed for the sake of their mate. His senses showed him the way into the woods and he found Mehek beneath a huge tree. Her found her lifeless body smeared with dirt and covered in dry leaves. "Mehek", he cried out her name.

He dashed to her and took her in his arms. She was as cold as ice and her breaths were shallow. Her body was devoid of any symptoms of life. Vivaan and Rajeev too came beside him. They used their blazer to cover her body and keep her warm. "I am sorry, Mehek. I truly am sorry", Shaurya cried, "I take back my rejection. You are my mate, my light and my love. I am nothing without you. If you are taken away from me, I don't want to live anymore", he quickly reverted his rejection. Rajeev checked her pulse as she breathed hardly, "Her pulse is very low, Shaurya. We should take her to pack doctor immediately", he told him.

Shauyra was pacing outside his bedroom restlessly. They were able to bring her quickly to his home where pack doctor awaited. His Beta and Gamma did little to calm him. Probably they are still angry with him for keeping them in dark and rejecting their future Luna. When doctor came out, Shaurya ran to her, "Doctor, how is Mehek? She will get better, won't she?". Dr Sunaina looked thoughtful, as if gauging the severity of the news she was about to break, "I have done everything possible from my side, Alpha. We just have to wait and see". "What do you mean by that?", he roared in anger. Rajeev pulled him back and asked him to keep calm. "Thanks for everything Doctor. Is there anything else needs to be done to expedite her recovery", Rajeev asked her. She sighed, "Her heartache has to go away. Only then her recovery will be fast else it will be fatal", she then turned to Shaurya, "Be with her. Your proximity will help a lot. If still her condition doesn't improve then as a last resort...". The trio looked at her like lost puppies. "Alpha, you may have to mate with her. It will revive your mate bond and make her feel accepted. That will surely cure her", she finished in a breath.
