National awards are not given for how many crores a movie made or how famous you are. That way the huge number of regional movie award winners of the national award would not have existed.

Box office is not the criteria to judge best actress.

Performance matters. Alia was good but there are several top notch performances.

Aditi balan for Aruvi is one, pretty sure other languages had path breaking performances as well.
