I wasn't keen on watching the new age version of KZK. I had watched the original because I grew up in a household where TV and soaps were just as important as food and water 😆 And quite frankly, I never really understood the hype! The only time I actually enjoyed the serial was during the Prem and Mukti track. But Ekta being Ekta, had to go and ruin that 😡
Anyway! The only reason why I tuned in to watch the new version is because of Parth and Erica pairing. I really feel that Ekta has got it spot on with the lead pair casting. Parth has really surprised me with his portrayal of Anurag Basu. He seems to have really understood the character, and fits it like a glove! I would even go as far as to say that he has done a far more convincing job than the original! Parth brings his own charm and uniqueness to Anurag Basu, and I'm enjoying that.
I know Erica has received a lot of flak, and I'm not sure why! Yes, dialogue delivery at times isn't as clear as it should be. But it's something that can be worked on. But other than that, I think she makes a wonderful Prerna. Erica is so good at bringing vulnerability to the character, and it makes Prerna even more endearing, imo. Of course, both characters are flawed and lack consistency! But this is a Desi soap. It's Balaji. So I expect that 😆
And as a pairing, I find THIS Anurag and Prerna more relatable. I feel like rooting for them. But at the same time, I'm trying to detach myself because I know Ekta will cast some big celeb as Mr Bajaj and then this forum would be a sight to see. There will be fan wars! But the original was also Ekta's child. So she can deviate from it, if she chooses to. We can still have a tragic love story without the multiple marriages and kids galore. And I hope this time round it's different because we have now entered 2019!
Bottom line: I know this serial is flawed. But I'm here for Parth and Erica's believable chemistry ❤️
