#2. Cooking Date

The first rains always excited Avni. While other people complained about the problems the sudden downpour caused, Avni always felt at peace as the raindrops trickled down her. Sighing in bliss, Avni entered her home, but that blissful feeling was pushed out by a burning smell. Fearing the worst, Avni rushed to the kitchen but stopped and hid behind a pillar to watch her husband mutter to herself.

"To hell with this! Lady Don will fry me alive today! I have so messed it up!" He gripped his hair and then rubbed his face. Avni failed to stifle a giggle as he wiped the chocolate on his face. Neil cursed and looked up, to meet his laughing wife's eyes.

"Hey, you early today?" He faked a calm expression.

"Yeah! And I must say, you have given me one hell of a welcome." She looked at the burnt cake that sat on the counter.

"I can explain. I just wanted to surprise you. It's been days since we spent time together, and I know how much you love a chocolate cake, so," Even the chocolate smeared on his face couldn't hide his blush.

Avni shook her head and walked up to him and ran her hair through his hair that was white due to flour.

"Go, take a shower. I'll clear this." Neil protested, half embarrassed, half out of concern, but Avni pushed him out of the kitchen.

After 15 minutes, he entered a kitchen that looked cleaner. The burnt cake wasn't in sight, any more and the kitchen smelled of citrus freshener.

"I guess that was one hell of a disaster," He mumbled.

"Yes, it was, IPS Khanna." She faked a stern expression and folded her arms. "You have to make up for it!"

"Do I, now?" He smirked, flirtingly, ignoring her angry expressions. She rolled her eyes and passed him a container.

"We are making a cake!" He looked up at her in disbelief. "Well, I want a cake, now that you mentioned it! We can have a cooking date," She winked at him.

"And when has Avni Aisha ever bothered about dates?" He placed the container on the counter, his eyes affixed on his beautiful wife. His wife never failed to surprise him. From the CEO who would throw daggers at her employees to a teenage girl talking about dates and kisses, his wife could be anything. "Even though I own the company, I must say that I fear your wife," His father had told him once, but Bebe always believed that Avni was one of the most (if not the) sweet person to walk the earth.

She snapped her fingers, breaking his reverie. After 30 minutes of mixing, tasting and sweet talks filled with flirting and bickering, the two looked at the cake that was now the tray. It smelled heavenly. Both sighed and then laughed.

"Maybe we should work on things together, only then they turn out to be amazing," Neil said as he filled the icing back with chocolate. Avni smiled as she wiped her hands.

They kept the cake in refrigerator and Avni wentt back to her files while Neil cleared the kitchen (after 5 long minutes of coaxing and convincing)

"I can't wait to have the cake," Avni suddenly spoke, making Neil chuckle. She ate some icing and passed a cheeky smile at Neil. He looked at her for a few seconds and then kissed her, licking the icing on lips and she moaned.

"Yes, we make thing better, together." He kissed her on the forehead and smiled.
