Why Sameer is not being a typical man

I am not trying to defend or justify but just highlighting a few important things here about Sameer.

1. He couldn't bear to have Naina's name be stepped upon so he himself was picking up debris from the paper. DO you all remember that moment? If you do then dont you think you should forgive him for the 'arre garre' comment he made in anger because in actuality Naina is so sacred and respected for Sameer that he himself has never tried to force Naina into intimacy. To have someone you hold so high up on the pedestal be hugged for the sake of a play in front of so many would get to you. He has never even given himself the respect that he has given to Naina.

2. Ladkewaalon ko hi dahej dena padega Naina ke liye. Do you all remember this beautiful moment from Pooja Di's wedding when he stood up for Naina against Taiji. He couldn't bear her insult in front of so many people so take from that how much that hug would have traumatised him because he knows how conservative society will deride Naina. Another case in point through this makes it clear that Sameer is not a typical man. He is way ahead of his time.

3. People have been comparing him to Ramji (and I am not bashing anyone here, I believe you are entitled to your opinion just like I am to mine) but has Ramji ever done so much struggle for Sita like Sameer has done for Naina. He has literal worshipped her you can see above points for this. He has also worked harder for Naina to make her the GS. He has never even worked that hard for himself as he has for. And do you all remember the redemption track? The amount of insult he bore from everyone including Naina just to get her back? The rich Sameer who has never had to work a day in his life wiped floors, set up tents, worked tirelessly all for his Naina.

4. Coming to the most important point now- We can see from above that Sameer is not a typical man. He doesn't want Naina to go through agni pariksha, he is going through one himself. Yes he doesnt trust her about the hug part but can you blame him. He is human after all. He is allowed his moments of weakness. And I link all this insecurity of his to his broken childhood. He has always felt that he wasn't good enough for his mother which is why she left him. Then Naina too left him. She herself deepened that seed of insecurity when she broke up with him (i am not blaming Naina here, that poor girl was traumatised herself- a whole different story so let's not get into it). I think even with the way they patched up that feeling that she can leave him has continued to haunt him. His mother just gave him the final blows of insecurity here.

Sameer Maheswari in his anger is not being a typical man but a typical human being with flaws of his own. He needs Naina to assure him of their love, that she will never leave him and that they are equals.

Okay so maybe I am trying to defend Sameer, but I am not sorry about that because I have been watching his character unfold from day one. And I can see he has had the most impressive characterization and growth I have ever witnessed on Indian TV. But again you all are entitled to your own opinions and I respect them, fam. I just wanted to lay out mine.

I just loved your post.

You know I wrote on similar line of this in Ross's post.

I know right now he is just being thick headed out of his anger but can you really blame him?

Actually I am loving this human shade of his. He is behaving like a typical teenager who is going through a lot and suffering too because of his Mom's words.

He will learn with time to deal with his insecurities and I am waiting for the rise of SJM after this.

I completely agree

Sameer is just being insecure and that too because the seed of doubt Vishakha has put in his mind

I don't want to blame vishakha here

but I think she could never be a mother that sameer deserved

Sameer is a far better man than any man out there

he have always gone beyond his boundaries to prove that he loves Naina

during the manhoos phase too

he was not once thinking about himself but has put naina first

he has always been very protective of her

and seeing her with another man

has blown him off

hence his behavior

and I think that much of liberty should be given to him

I agree that sameer as a character had a tremendous growth and he is definitely my fav on TV.His behaviour is also ok but still after the last break up they need to address a problem mutually. He needs to talk and without proper communication relationship is doomed. I am glad naina is adamant as per precap.u know my husband is also like this .he stops talking if faced with problems. I hv to still take words from his mouth .Hope to see sameer discussing in front of naina and telling vishakha's thought .I also hope naina make him secured.Actually they hv not dealt with the insecurities after earlier break up .That suicide drama got lots of flake and hope for a sensible and mature naina this time who will reassure him.His insecurities are from his childhood and it cannot go away completely.

My dear , there is nothing called as a typical man or woman or perfect man or woman. But what we need to see if these two survives as a couple. In this journey of togetherness every day is a learning even for married people...only when an issue props up will you actually get to know the other person a lil better.

Here the main issue is that even after 4 yrs of relationship when she told him that Karthik did it on purpose. He didn't believe her . That is not logical. I wouldn't blame it on Sameer or Naina rather would point fingers towards writers. Especially a character like Sameer would have beaten Karthik for his behavior on hearing that Karthik forced that hug.

As 17yr old boy he showed the maturity of winning her heart back and saving her sister's marriage. And now at 20 the same boy is being shown differently as someone who is impulsive and immatured. That is what confused every one. No one has issues with Sameer or Naina...every one has issues with the way the core attributes of a character is destroyed to build a conflict in the story.

Indeed you have laid it out well. There is an issue here with the writers. But we also need to address that even in those 4 years, how much time have they actually been together. What with the Delhi track, manhoosiyat track, that break up track. Writers have shown almost constant separation and not shown the breakdown or confrontation we expected of them. Are we ever going to get another emotional scene like the hospital one?

If you see all this, writers build up the conflict beautifully but somehow dont give a proper closure to it. That's an issue as well. I just hope they don't butcher one of the best written characters.

Keeping that aside, it is very telling that he showed that maturity as a 17 year old however we also need to acknowledge that moment in his life. He had the stability of Nanu behind him, his presence gave Sameer a deep sense of security. He also believed then that Naina would never leave him. He trusted that she would be the secure net he could fall back on.

But when Nanu died, that security was taken away from under his feet. And he found that security in Naina once she fought to bring him out of his manhoosiyat track. She fought for him and that give him that surety. But then the break up happened and she left him (again not blaming her here, I completely understood Naina's state of mind). That insecurity and distrust gripped him back. Even when they got back together, this was never talked about.

They fought when he thought that Naina lied to him and his mothers words and those residues of insecurity gripped him again. Even after they patched up again, this was never addressed. We need this proper communication between them. Because he probably thinks that Naina already lied to him once and can lie again. But she needs drill that trust and security back in him.

When ever a phone conversation is given , BGM or VO is heard ...else its the typical cheesy romantic talks..During school days they gave us an opportunity to hear them talk to each other about their pain, worry, etc...I had expected it would be more in the college track...so we as audience also don't know how much strong they are as a couple. We assume from Sameer love talk that he loves her blindly and trusts...They CVs havnt done a great job with the script post Nanu's demise.

So more than any one I am irritated with the way plot is being treated. Because as a viewer I am confused about Sameer and Naina's four years love story.

Indeed whenever Naina and Sameer try to be alone or go out, its very brief and it always gets interrupted. Ahh I miss the writing from Mount Abu and their 24 ghante ki baatein so much.

@Bold- Ican understand your irritation really well. My parents recently started watching the show with me and even though they love it, they don't see it as anything serious, they are more in it for the family scenes and the comic relief. It just makes me think about the quality that has been displaced since manhoosiyat track. Please CVs show us the confrontation and the maturity in their talks. I am really hopeful of the talk coming today or sometime next week between Sameer and Naina. Don't let my hopes down.

Thank you dear. Yes you are right. If this track is handled and given closure to properly then it could be one of the best tracks on maturity and development. Sameer has become too lax with his own ambitions and nanu's legacy. He is too reliant on mama taking care of business. We needed something to push him out of this laidback zone. And his fear of losing Naina and insecurities could be the only thing to work them out.
