I hope atleast for once people read the whole thread before assuming things. The conversation was over some members attitude ans grudge over why these celebrities are not celebrating the festival the way THEY do. And since they are not celebrating it the way some members are used to do, that automatically makes the celebrities opportunists ruining a festival.

Since when did rules come into place about how one should celebrate a festival? The only thing that has any rules is the puja which is done by a priest during Diwali. Apart from that, what one does in a festival should not be anyone's business. Just because it is auspicious to some members here, people are not supposed to celebrate Diwali the way they want to? And people should dictate how one should celebrate? That too in a country where celebrations differ in every state?
And then this automatically got linked to the dress people are wearing.
Matlab just because they are wearing designer indian wear that are not traditional in nature, that automatically means they are ruining our culture and making Diwali 'cosmopolitan'. The disucssions were over THIS. Just because you are not used to seeing this around you or it doesn't happen in your realm of life, that doesn't mean it doesn't/can't happen anywhere else. The debate was over members dictating how one should dress up and how one should celebrate a festival so that it doesn't hurt their feelings.
And yes, whether you like it or not, feminism definitely needs to be brought up when members will s**t shame someone for what they are wearing when it will not effect the member even for a second. Pakeezah made it appear like Disha has posed posed naked with a diya with the way she has worded her opinion and continued to do so throughout the discussion. BREATS BREASTS BREASTS BREASTS. And that she is ' exposing' while talking unfair advantage of a festival.
Jaise one dress is going to ruin centuries old tradition and festival. And what is Disha exactly doing? Posing at her home with a diya in her hand. Ab diya pe bhi copyright lagwa lo sab! Now even diya suddenly has become religious!😕

And BI ,obviously everything has to be turned into a man vs woman discussion because NO MAN goes through the kind of trolling and s**t shaming a woman goes through. You are saying people would say the same thing if a man did the same. Have you seen the Durga Puja ads of the innerwear advertised by Ranveer and Varun? The whole city of Calcutta was plastered with Ranveer and Varun wearing only their vests doing a namaste and saying ''Happy Durga Puja'. Same with the Jockey ads. Why didn't anyone have a problem with that? Because it's normal in people's eyes to see a man wearing a vest but a woman wearing a bra- tauba tauba!
Also how can you even compare a dress worn at a corporate meeting with what one wears at a festival or photoshoot? That's your place of work. That place has certain rules written down which you need to folllow if you 'choose' to work there. How is it the same like a festival where there are NO rules writenn in a binding book and it is YOUR choice to wear according to YOUR own sensibilities. This is just like how someome compared the dress people wearing at SRK's party with the robe a lawyer wears at court.😕

So rounding off by saying, YES. Everything needs to be seen minutely and turned into a man vs woman conversation because men get away with every single thing and don't even get a little bit of scrutiny a woman gets in every freaking thing. And I'm saying this as a man. After having realized after all these years about how freaking entitiled our tribe is. It's unbelievable! Tomorrow if I wear shorts to a temple, no one will bat an eyelid. If my sister does the same (she has done it,personal experience),all eyes will shift from the puja to her. And those eyes will be of disgust.

Ranveer and Varun saying wishing Diwali in chaddi would have met the same reaction from me...had I known/seen them..😆

Chalo...lets talk about a place without formal rules...suppose kissi ki shaadi hai...and one guest decides to wear lehnga with BRA...disha style...do u honestly feel that it would not be taken as an insult by the host or the host would say ki koi baat nahi...people can wear whatever they want...unki marzi and will be cool about it?? Again...even where there are no rules...sensibilities are still there...of course like I said before ...one can do what they want...but should one do whatever they want??

And it doesn't have to be my mother-sister-grandmom-relative to think about that. It can be ANY woman and it can be THEIR choice what they wear. If anyone has a problem, the same god we are worshipping has thankfully given us eyes and legs which we can voluntarily use to just shut our eyes and walk back into our own house. As simple as that.😃

Its ironical how the word 'titillating' is being brought up again and again when it comes to showing breasts or wearing revealing clothes. Y'all are just so sure they were wearing those clothes for titillation. Here's a fun thought. Maybe women don't do wear everything for men? Do everything thinking about men? Or is that concept a lil too much for some of y'all to understand? Women dont post on social media for you to get aroused and jerk off to them. Disha is simply wearing a sports bra. She is wearing it cause she likes it. Nowhere did she ever mention doing it for titillation. Or are y'all that young to look at women's breasts and immediately get aroused. If that is so, if some of y'all can't look at women's bodies for a second without popping a boner and thinking oh ''she's wanting guys' attention and she is doing this to arouse me' then perhaps you're the problem and shouldnt be on social media and most importantly dont look at women at all. Keep your traditions to yourself. Nobody cares for it. Atleast no woman does. Stop mansplaining ''festivals" now.

I agree with everything except Disha wearing it because she likes it. It is simply a endorsement stunt she did for CK. And I won't be surprised if CK's marketing team deliberately did this to create controversy because just look at how much press this one has gotten not just social media but also main stream major news channels.

The thing is if we as a nation were 'educated' enough to understand that women could wear anything and we have no right to comment on it the thing wouldnt have gotten any press at all. The press and media coverage it has gotten only proves that it's so easy to rile up Indians and their so called sensibilities in the name of religious festivals. The people who spew hatred on her post ironically helped her in a way to grab more eyeballs. CK might have thought it but these people did this on their own all because men are jobless this country and literally have no other business than s**tshaming and dictating women on their sartorial choices on insta. Its on them, not on CK or Disha.

but ATC, while men in the whole world are assholes, but this stunt by Disha and CK isn't defendable. We cannot give them free pass for this, I don't encourage this s**t shaming as you could see, in the Disha thread my first comment was a sarcastic one, hyperbole one.

But it is also not a good thing to deliberately try to provoke controversy, as much as these men s**t shaming her deserve condemnation, so does Disha and CK deserve some criticism for this stupid stunt.

Especially CK, as Disha ka toh bashing, shaming and trolling ho raha hai, while CK has gotten all the attention it wants, but no negative consequences.

men are jobless in India. so they have nothing to do but s**t shame. ?

i dont agree. apeing the west is fine in limits. not everything about the west is something to ape. our traditions are fine. we respect our elders. its not me, me, me but US. all our feelings.

as if Disha or CK is gonna say she is wearing it for titillation. the comments on the pic by guys were enough to knowthey werent looking at the lehnga or face. do you really think Calvin Klein thinks people work out wearing lehnga, dupatta and SPORTS BRA? or indeedDisha does?

its a GIMMICK. An insensitive one. a few people might not care, but the majority wont take kindly to this kind of westernisation. i hope a time never comes when people do puja at Diwali or Karwa Chauth wearing bra with lehnga. with all elders and children around. we are not in Amazon basin pygmy tribe who never learnt to wear clothes., hence its all right.

if someone asks a Catholic woman, please dont turn up at Mass, wearing bra and panty, its NOT dictating dress code to a WOMAN. its one human being asking ANOTHER to respect the customs and sentiments of the others. they would do same to a man in only underwear.
