I see this is a positive - the fact that they haven't touched on Kunal and Mishti's bonding yet speaks volumes about Mauli's upbringing. It shows that Mauli is not only a strong single mother, but also one with extremely sorted values. She raised her daughter to be comfortable and content with what/who she has in her family, even if her father is missing. I'm sure people will argue that at least Ishaan was around to fill the void of a father, and I agree with that to an extent, however, it seems like Mishti wasn't raised as a dependent child. The bond she has with Ishaan and Mauli is great, but really, the only person she can truly rely on is her mother. So far, they haven't shown a deep bond between Ishaan and Mishti, and that's completely fair!
Pari on the other hand was raised to feel the void of her mother, and that's where I question Kunal's upbringing. If Pari truly grew up in the west where single parenting is a pretty normal concept, then don't see why Kunal wouldn't raise her to accept those circumstances and happily move on with their lives accordingly. He had no trouble moving on from Mauli, this shouldn't be new for him. If anything, I feel sorry for Mishti who grew up in India among desi norms and stereotypes. Kunal, Nandini, and Pari managed to run away from it all, Mauli may still have had to bear the brunt of questioning neighbours, school teachers, etc.
