I was going to make a separate post on it. The very implications of that fictional oath are disrespectful to Karn-Dury bond. 😡 😡 What utter rubbish! 🤬

P.S. yes, it did remind me of the Unbreakable Vow from HP 😆

I hope they don't bring this ''oath" up later when Karna makes the decision to stick by Duryodhana.

So true, Duryodhan is not someone who will want to such a vow from karna. He trusts him well enough. I have a feeling this vow will be the reason they will show as to why karna sides with Duryodhan in the war. Showing that will just destroy karna's friendship and sacrifice.
Just like you guys even I thought that blood vow was copied from hp's unbreakable vow. I thought about Snape making that vow

Also, by making up the whole blood oath thing (was anybody reminded of unbreakable oath from HP?)They're actually undermining Karna. I don't think he needed any oath to always be by Duryodhan''s side. His inherent loyalty and Duryodhana's genuine affection were enough.

Yes they kind of gave reason there for karna to chose dury over his own brothers..he mentions that in oath itself...I also didn't like that .. they didn't need to do that.. it does undermine friendship between karna and dury..hope they forget about this when karna makes that choice..

I don't see why all tv shows portray Kunti as this helpless and crying widow.
She was one of the most shrewd and complex characters in the epic.
In fact she was one of those characters who could actually make choices for herself.
She chose Pandu as her husband. She was a great political analyst , a single mother who fought to ensure her sons inherited the kingdom.
There are so many, Draupadi's decision, the wax palace incident, her decision to stay at Vidura's house during the pandava exile, the timing of the revelation of truth to Karna.
I wish they could portray her strength and her grey shades.

It gave me such a headache! Every single show is determined to do this! I was okay with her being guilt-ridden because Indian shows simply won't work if mothers aren't obsessed with their kids but her decision to tell Karna the truth was absolute nonsense! I am quite sure they're gonna run with this Kunti mahanta nonsense instead of showing Karna with his actual family! I get it, Karna's association with the Pandavas is a very dramatic incident and has to be in focus but can they please stop with the Kunti whitewashing?
About the blood vow, It didn't annoy me as much because Duryodhan also took his own vows and he wasn't the one who encouraged Karna to do this...but I really hope they actually show Duryodhan and Karna's friendship instead of making Karna loyal to this vow. I actually like this Duryodhan, he isn't pitch black (YET) and I liked his conversation with Kunti! When will Indian showmakers understand that people aren't black or white? They simply don't understand the concept of grey zone! On another note, I am liking this slightly evil, confident version of Arjun, he reminds me of Rajneeti's Samar..who ironically was one of the most innovative adaptions of Arjun. But I want them to tone down this weird Arjun/Uruvi angle, it irritates the hell outta me!

Dear friends

To be frank...Kunti is great character and just like all other characters, grey shaded character. I like only one act of kunti, when surya offered her boon then kunti asked kavach kundal for karna. She could have asked anything but kunti loved karna. Greatness of kunti.

We can see another kunti spotted when she approached karna to save lives of her sons. Here kunti used danveer nature of karna for benefit of pandavas. I found dark character of kunti here. Its beauty of epic every character of mahabharata is hero/heroine at one place and same character acts like villain...

I always thought that Karna was the most like Kunti than any of her other sons.

Both Kunti and Karna were adopted.
Both were ambitious, resilient, spirited , shrewd , strong , arrogant and have very grey shades to their otherwise noble characters.
I hope the makers show the similar dark shades of these characters

This is not something mentioned in the book but makers have taken this route to justify why kunti kept quiet on seeing karna first..

I do agree Ritima, that everyone these days get a kick out of whitewashing Kunti. Again, I'm not watching this show, so, no idea as to what is going on there, but in StarB I'd seen enough, how she almost speaks the truth, and then something comes up. Thing is she was a highly intelligent, manipulative woman and she revealed the truth to him only when she thought it would help her other sons. I think the show makers have difficulty portraying a woman as manipulative unless she is a villain, and Kunti doesn't fit their ideas of what a good woman should be. All characters in MB were grey, including Kunti, and once people accept that, there'll be no need for any sort of washing.

Whitewashing of Kunti made me upset..She was a shrewd cunning lady, not a helpless abla maa like they are portraying.
