Ayushmann Khurrana is enjoying a dream run at the box office. Both his films, AndhaDhun, and Badhaai Ho, which released in the gap of just two weeks, have received a spontaneous response from critics as well as audiences and are performing well in theatres at the same time with the later gearing towards 100 crore plus lifetime. The actor is known for his unique film choices and portrayals has apparently bagged one more interesting film in his kitty.

Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Ayushmann has signed BR Studio's next romantic comedy. The film in question is the remake of the production company's own old classic, Chhoti Si Baat. The Basu Chatterjee directed 1976 hit drama is considered one of the best Hindi comedy films of the 1970s and is known for its quirky take on pre-hyper congestion Bombay. The film starred Amol Palekar, Ashok Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Asrani besides Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini's special appearances and emerged a big hit at the ticket windows.

BR Studios is apparently planning to remake this film with a modern twist to it. Producers Juno Chopra and Abhay Chopra who collaborated with Ayushmann on last year's sleeper hit Bareilly Ki Barfi have joined hands with T-Series' Bhushan Kumar to co-produce it. Happy Bhaag Jayegiseries fame Mudassar Aziz is likely to direct this film sometime next year.

According to the sources, Ayushmann has been locked in to play Amol Palekar's role while the other cast are still under finalization. The film was apparently also approached to Rajkummar Rao to play the second male lead but he turned it down citing date issues.

Chhoti Si Baat remake is the third film that Ayushmann has locked recently. The actor is apparently on a signing spree post-AndhaDhunand Badhaai Ho release and has greenlighted two more films which will be rolling and releasing in 2019. As per reports, Ayushmann has signed Ekta Kapoor's quirky romantic comedy Googly and a film called Bala for Dinesh Vijan's production house, Maddock Films. The official announcement of both the films are expected to be made within a few months.

Ashok Kumar, Amol Palekar and Vidya Sinha in Chhoti Si Baat

Chhoti Si Baat has been in the making since a long time. It was earlier supposed to be directed by David Dhawan and star Varun Dhawan and Salman Khan but things didn't work out and was indefinitely shelved. But last year Juno Chopra had again announced that they were on the verge to get this classic ready for a remake. "We are working on the remake version of Chhoti Si Baat. It's a nice story. It is too early to talk about casting for this film. For us content is most important. We cast actors according to the requirement of the script, he had said.

That would be just awesome! Choti si baat and Golmaal were two of the best classic romantic comedies...I would love for him to do Golmaal too...
I hope they retain the original flavor though and not change it into another Sonu Ke Titu or whatever!

That would be great if its true, would love to see a modernized version of Chhoti si Baat with Ayushmaan as the lead ⭐️
CSB was such a charming, cute little movie, first half was hilarious, still remember the beginnging commentary on the characters and some of the comic scenes.

Not to forget Ashok Kumar the love coach from whom even  big big players like Bachchan take advice from...😆...I think it would be awesome if they rope in SRK to play this role...

This is one of the best movies. Basu Chatterjee and Hrishikesh Mukherjee are my fav directors.
Such a simple movie and ayushman suits the role but please don't remake it. It is a classic. 😒
