See I have also seen this kind of scenarios why go far in our family only.
From beating boy and girl to runaway marriage I have seen it all but at least family knew about it and then family pressure came.
Here Naina just assumed that they will not be accepted and she gave up without trying and she didn't even care for Sameer's pain that's why all the ranting about her character.
Let's not go there again like you said it's long debate topic and when it comes to Sameer I am very much emotionally attached to that character.
Now we also made peace with the situation so now just enjoying.
