In order to safeguard women and forewarn men to not cross the line, Emraan Hashmi has decided to included a clause incorporating the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redresal) Act, 2013 in his employment contracts, the actor told Mumbai Mirror. Several prominent men from the entertainment industry have been named as alleged sexual offenders.

"Such clauses are already in contracts in several industries, including MNCs. No film production company has enforced it so far, but with the #MeToo movement that started a decade ago, picking up steam in the West last year and inching towards India, with someone being outed almost every hour on the social media, such clauses have become imperative. In my company at least, it will include both male and female cast and crew members," the actor told the publication.

Hashmi said that there needs to be a universal moral code on film sets in accordance with government's guidelines as there is still some confusion about what amounts to sexual harassment, with reactions being subjective. He also pointed out that while it is right if the law looks out for women, there needs to be revisions made to include men as well.

He also spoke about having an open dialogue with his female co-stars, writer and director before enacting an intimate scene.

Emraan Hashmi is spreading awareness about sexual harassment while Alok Nath is a rapist. Talk about on-screen images.

In the wake of the Me Too movement, Emraan Hashmihas taken an important decision. From now on, his contracts will include a sexual harassment clause. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Hashmi said, "Such clauses are already in contracts in several industries, including MNCs. No film production company has enforced it so far, but with the #MeToo movement that started a decade ago, picking up steam in the West last year and inching towards India, with someone being outed almost every hour on the social media, such clauses have become imperative. In my company at least, it will include both male and female cast and crew members." Emraan has recently floated his production company with Cheat India. He co-produced the film with Bhushan Kumar, Atul Kasbekar and Tanuj Garg

Emraan also feels there is a bit of a confusion as to what amounts to harassment. "For some women, a mildly flirtatious remark could be tantamount to sexual harassment. Men are on tenterhooks because what is said in jest, can be misconstrued and one could be fried. In the circumstances, lying down a universal moral code on the film set, dictated by the government's guidelines, is the need of the hour. This will safeguard the interests of women and men will be forewarned so they don't cross the line, the actor added. When asked if he feels actors could be more vulnerable here because they enact a lot of intimate scenes on the big screen, Emraan said, "No, I don't expect any surprises because I have only ever done what the script demanded and what the director wanted. There was always a clear and open dialogue with the writer, director and my co-star before an intimate scene during which the duration and aesthetics would be discussed. If the lady had a problem, we would try to resolve it. If she was still uncomfortable, I would suggest we remove it. Even if it was okay with her, we would first agree on what was required before the shot was taken so there was no way I would do something out of line and not on the page, he informs, pointing out that on a film set, the woman is always a minority, surrounded by a 100 men behind the camera, all physically stronger than her. "It's tough on her and plays on her psyche which is why it's important that we are sensitive and empathetic to her. A woman knows when a man is out of line.

Emraan also reminds here... "If there are male bosses, there are female bosses too."

He is one of the only few man in BW who is actually decent.

Even Tanushree was full praises for him.

Even his onscreen characters kissed most of the time with consent, I love most of his characters onscreen and it is obvious that he is a nice person offscreen too!

To me it's fascinating and equally disturbing/sad how far behind BW is from normal companies, that they are talking about including these now. This is basic of any company.
They should also include basic workshops for what is sexual harassment and what do to when faced with it. Also, make sure you have an HR department actually wanting to take these complaints and wanting to do something about this and not just folks who are going to ask you to forget about it.

RESPECT.

A very sensible and true remark. I have never liked his films or acting but Wish him best in life, he truly is decent.

It's a very interesting and true remark. I would be intimidated as an actress, so I'm glad he pointed that out.
