Roop - Burning bridges of interest
Why is Roop always on his knees?
I will tell you a small story.
It's a story which reverberates amongst most military families n most have witnessed similar circumstances first hand in some form or the other.
A military mom holding the pudgy little hands of her children and marching into the hospital with her children's dad lying on a stretcher soaked from head to toe in his own blood. His uniform riddled with more holes than the ma's Atta chalni. Yet she walks in to the hospital with a big bright smile n tells the children lets bring a smile on dad's face. She has the brightest smile as she wipes of the blood from his face with the stretcher sheet and sternly instructs him that next month is children parent teacher meet in school which he has to attend. So he better walk out of the hospital soon n fast. The 9 year old brother supporting his dad's shoulder n putting the limp arm back on to the stretcher n sportingly say next month is his tennis match and he wants dad to train him. So he better get the arm in working order fast n soon.
And the girl. Well she was too small such that her head barely reached the tip of the stretcher. But never to be left behind lest somebody calls her a baby, she with her pudgy little hands wiped off her dad's blood off the hospital floor. The blood, her dad's blood dripping down the stretcher. Not with fear, never. With respect, lest somebody walks his foot on to her dad's blood.
For me the mother is the hero of this story. She is the one who braved all the naysayers and stood tall in her confidence that her children's dad will walk out on his own feet out of the hospital. She never ever let go of her dignity, she never ever lost her temper. She never ever let that smile of reassurance leave her face.
For me the 9 year old boy is the hero of the story. In spite of his young years he stood tall and confident for his ma n his dad. He supported his dad's limp strong arm, yet never let his own young one shake even a bit. He held on to his Ma's hand strongly, yet it was the mother who sought solace from his young strength.
The father. He walked out of the hospital in a few weeks on his own feet, healthier, way stronger than before n many times more ready to face lot more battles.
The mother. She is the bridge- the bridge of faith, the bridge of courage, the bridge of extreme optimism .The bridge that the father n the children climbed n walked upon to reach each other.
The ensuing story is even more interesting. The children climbed each n every tree on the hospital grounds. Plucked all the flowers n all the guavas. Roller skated in the corridors breaking all the rules of silence n peace. Made the life of the nurses a living nightmare, so much so that the nurses ensured the dad gets discharged from the hospital as soon as possible.
Shasha can you give some of Ravish's dignity to Roop? Ravish stood tall in all adversities. Even if you give some of Ravish dignity to Roop, he shall survive the tide of disinterest ebbing into the story.
What should Roop do? Let's make him interesting!!!
First n most important he should let go of the girl. All this Romeo madness is irritating.
Roop should concentrate on his career n studies. Power is the best aphrodisiac. He should work hard n buy the Roop's Noah's Ark and the hotel off the patels. Than he should throw the patels including their useless judgemental daughter out of the show for eternity.
He ought to call upon his BIL (Jigna's husband) n have a gentlemanly talk with him m make him understand the consequences of the latter's violent actions. Maybe threaten him also a little bit with police actions if he does not improve. Roop being of the same age as his BIL may be able to make him see more sense n reason.
Roop should also tell his sister Jigna to stop being a sob story all the time and train her to become economically independent. He can train her to join police force.
Roop has a military school background. He definitely didn't go there only to roast potatoes. Let him train all the girls of his family in self-defence.
I like faiba. Let Roop give her some technical training n make herself busy. In fact he can take her to his garage along with him n train her to become a mechanic. That would be so very interesting n she would be out of Ma Aaun's way throughout the day. In this way he has helped both faiba n his ma. There's no age limit in learning something new. Two targets with one stone accomplished.
Roop n daddy Aaun scenes are the next best thing to Roop solo scenes. I like Daddy Aaun. Yes he is horribly misogynist. A cop witnesses the worst side of humanity, hence maybe the cynicism.
Roop ought to take sterner stand with his dad. Their power conflicts are the best thing. Nevertheless, he ought to work hard n buy that Roop's Ark, gift it to his dad n make his dad one happy man.
Roop's marriage. That can wait. In fact it would be highly interesting if somehow he is cajoled into an arranged marriage by his family.
Friendship is sacrosanct n should remain so. Friends need not cross the border of friend n love. That's too boring. Roop better not get involved in that.
Shasha this show is also riding entirely on the shoulders of your phenomenal powerful performance. You are the bridge between the story and the audience. You are the entire cast in itself. Without you the show will collapse like a house of cards within a day.
Shasha is the story not because he is roop, but because he is the one who commands the cameras irrespective of wether he is in the scene or not. If he is there we love him n when he's not there we wait for him. That's the bridge- the bridge of eternal reverence between him and the young hearts watching him with all their faith that he shall uphold it.
Shasha you are the superstar... you are the hero.
Always n Forever
Cheers
