Thank you writers for giving us this blissful week, it keeps getting better each episode! It's all the things we had wished for and more :)
The Letter!!! I knew the letter would turn up at the right time, the letter will be the key to zoya's realization like the divorce papers. I think Subha and me spoke about this. Zoya was in denial back then too that yash had not cheated on her and Adi did everything to show her he did. But stubborn Zoya needed something as big as a divorce paper to prove her wrong. History repeats again, ziddi zoya gets confession letter as her proof. But this time not to prove her wrong love but true love. Truth of divorce papers lead her to death. Truth of letter will give birth to a new life, relieved from burden of past. Through the same confession letter Aditya had felt like he was reborn, it gave Zoya the same feeling because she finally realised her trust was never broken in the first place. Also I loved how they didn't show her directly finding the letter and reading it, she looked at Aditya's picture felt like re-reading the letter to be sure of her decision. Last time she had read the letter when she was quite disturbed and had just skimmed through the letter and the moment she had realised it was from Arshad she kept away the letter like it was trash. Today when she wants to be sure of her choice, she reads the letter in depth and the first line itself speaks to her. She finally feels the letter through Aditya, she touches the letter with love. By the last line where it says bepanah mohabat hogai hai, Zoya becomes clear as day that he wrote it because that's the exact line he had told her in person when he had confessed. It hits her that he had been trying to say those lines for a while, it was her who did not understand her friend's feeling all along. There was never any dhoka, he was always truthful to her.
Haldi scene, we have been waiting for two days and it was worth it. Roshnaq declines the haldi but Zoya stops her saying her best friend made it for her so she wants it. Even after everything they have been through in these past days, Zoya still considers him her friend. She understands the pain he must have gone through to prepare it for her and she doesn't want to break his heart by returning it.
She wants to be painted with Aditya's haldi not arshad. Haldi se pyaar ka rang nikharta hai dosti nai! But this is aditya and zoya's haldi. Aditya's ring is green colour which symbolizes renewal and growth. Yellow is his friendship mixed with green, a new beginning of love on Zoya painted by Aditya himself. While everyone is putting haldi on Zoya she doesn't even pretend to smile, she sits there with pain in her eyes while watching everyone put haldi on her. She doesn't feel at peach so she looks for her sukoon by closing her eyes. Her sukoon asks her why are you so surprised I have always been part of you. It was amazing how they highlighted all the big moments of adiya journey through application of haldi which changed their relationship. It felt as though Aditya was re-writing their story in Zoya's mind all over again.
Their first meeting which they remember as a fond memory now and not as the bitter day, the day he stopped her from going to masoorie it was the first time he had felt her value in his life and Zoya had felt his when she tried to kill herself, the lake side talk when they had truly accepted each other into their lives as friends, the day she stopped him from going to Paris where they felt the value of losing someone you love, and finally adi's realization then confession. The best part was that it was zoya's subconscious mind playing all this. She opens her eyes and finds her mother who tries to kiss away her pain. Zoya looks around one more time wondering if it was indeed her imagination or he was actually here like every other time.
The ring! I'm so glad they showed a flashback where his loose ring was explained. It made the scene even more impactful. Ironic how zoya's loose ring use to always land at aditya's feet and now aditya's loose ring lands in zoya's hand :) The ring is covered in haldi but Zoya still recognizes it without even looking at it properly, she has observed her azeez dost so closely. She even remembers him saying only who he loves will find the ring, his mother gifted it to him so if anyone other than him has a right on it, it will be his love. Zoya again protects him by hiding the ring at the function. She knows roshna is angry at the moment with Adi and the ring would cause more pain so she hides it and keeps it between the sisters.
The mirror scene in the bathroom was beautiful again. She finally smiles looking at the mirror and touches her own face wanting to feel adi's touch again but right then realises it's wrong to feel this way and tries to wipe away the haldi which has been painted as love on her. She washes the ring, colour of haldi is washed away by Zoya herself to bring out the green. Zoya herself will wash away her chained past giving both adiya a new life. She asks Noor to give Aditya's amanat back to him. She has forgiven him. She had asked him to give her amanat, the engagement ring in the form of her trust which was with him. Today she asked noor to give back his amanat which she had taken away. While handing over her amanat to Noor she asks her to tell arjun to take good care of her amanat that she is handing over with so much hardship. Aditya misunderstands that amanat to be her last goodbye.
Also the stall where Aditya is sitting outside zoya's house showed him drinking chai. Not coffee. He only wants to drink black coffee at random stalls with his friend when she is not around he will drink chai because coffee will bring back those fond memories. It was heartbreaking to see how much that one line about death has affected Adi.
If yesterday was Harshad's day then Jennifer took the episode today. Those conflicting emotions infront of the mirror without any dialogues is very tough to pull off. The entire haldi seen was I am sure felt by the audience instead of just seen. It was surreal. Well done Jenny!!
PS- I know all of us are a little sad that Arshad is going to call off the wedding but I have a feeling there is much more to that scene. They have surely kept a big part of it hidden from us which will come as a surprise. Good or bad let's see đ
