Butchering of characters?

This post is not for any particular characters infact its not specifically for Bepannah even. This thread is created out of my frustration of being on multiple forums on IF and the single most irritating thing I have seen in all the forums and that's is the phrase:

"BUTCHERING OF CHARACTERS"

I really don't understand what does butchering means and how is a character even butchered. As far as my understanding goes, character of a person is not a straight line which behaves exactly same in every situation infact its a graph which constantly changes. A character is made up of emotions and reactions and how can such emotions and reactions be constant? Whenever there is even a slight chance in soneones's behaviour we start accusing the writers of butchering the character, their responses are not same and so on. How can we say that a character is butchered when in real life As well we don't behave exactly same in even same situations. People change with time and so does their emotions, reactions and behaviour. We cant keep them in watertight compartments. They are humans and not robots for God sake.

Sorry for such a long rant but I'm so fed up of this phrase constantly in use and especially during this current track when every action and reaction of both Adi and Zoya is termed as "butchering of character"

Frankly when u fall in love with a certain character it is with their flaws ... there is something about the character that u start loving .. may be it negative or positive character ...

Thank you very much for this post...character butchering is the most over rated word here...ppl take different decisions on different circumstances...but that doesn't mean their character is butchered every now and then...love, anger, agony all these emotions make people behave out of character...that doesn't mean their character has been destroyed...

when a character makes mistakes , they rectify , they are redeemed and u love them more .. thats a graph or progression u enjoy watching ..

but sometimes what happens , that makers change the same characters as per the track .. so if the track demands that particular character needs to be in a certain way even though it is not expected of that character they just change graph to such an extent that u cant relate ..

say for an eg if u like a particular character for his/her intelligence but all of a sudden in one track they act all dumb and intelligence is all gone u r somewhere irritated but makers vl continue to show that way coz the track needs to go on and by the end of the track new track is started ..so for makers it is about the track and as per that track they make certain changes to that character .. sometimes it is so much that u cant just relate ... unnecessarily adding such dialogues that you never expect a person to say ..

for me characters are changed as per tracks and makers sometimes are left with no option as these shows go on for a long time and they need to keep adding bigger and better twist to maintain their audience ...

I understand your POV and yes many a times characters are changed so much that they actually are bust here's but calling even a slight change as butchering is not right. Butchering is when someone takes a complete 180 degree turn in their behaviour and not simply overreaction to a situation

Exactly that's my point. We are bot watching some robots who are pre-programmed. Emotions and feelings are what makes us humans and they are very volatile in nature

I feel many people don't know what character butchering really is. it's a complete 360 degrees change in their personality 🤢 not a reaction to a situation
