Interesting question, and I've wondered about it too. In the end, I just think it is a way to distinguish platonic (non-sexual) vs romantic love (sexual). When you love someone, you deeply care about them and it's the affectionate kind of love. "Being in love" probably means all that and more, idk how to explain that "more"- I assume once you're in love you just know it. 😆. Another example could be, say when your boyfriend cheats on you...you still love them in the sense you still care about that person in a weird way, but the romantic love feeling (hopefully) is dead. Idk if i made myself clear. 😆

I love you is for various relationships but you can only be in love with your partner. So when a girl tells a boy i love you but not in love only means she loves you as a friend or a person but not to the extend that she would go the extra mile/share life with.

me too Tanu.😆 not that i regret it but sometimes i jus think wat it was a love marriage.
the journey post the marriage, may not be majorly different Tweety. as the living together is as new even during a love marriage (unless there was a live-in involved). In my case, we were ready to kill each other in the first 6 months of marriage, though we had love marriage. And then the love rises over everything else! 😉
